The wrench supplied with car doesn't fit on the rear wheel nuts

The wheel nut wrench supplied with the car doesn't fit on the rear wheel nuts, but it slides some what OK on the front wheel nuts. Also, the wheel nuts seem to have covers. One front tire nut doesn't have the cover and the wrench fist correctly. Should the nut covers be removed before removing the bolts? and how is that done?. I have a nail on the left rear tire, and haven't been able to change it. Thanks for your answer.

Yes, the plastic covers need to be removed first. Trouble is that rust or dirt may cause them to be very stiff. Try using a pair of grips to remove them or any other tool that you have in your toolbox. Discard the nut covers as they are more trouble than they are worth.

Will a standerd lug wrench work to change tire on this car

Hi Dickens:
Most vehicles come with a wrench sized correctly for removing wheel nuts.
- "Lug nut" wrenches are available in various sizes.
You will need to try the wrench you have on the wheel nuts on your vehicle.
- Some of the wrenches have several different sizes, so when you find the one that fits snugly, you can mark it with a black felt or with paint so that you'll know which one to use in future.

How do you remove the tire off the 2008 Dodge Charger - can't even get the lug nuts off...nothing fits

you should have a lug nut wrench in the trunk with located with the tire jack that is the proper size for the lug nuts.if you have the original wheel nuts.you turn the wrench counter clockwise to remove them from the car.if they are chrome caps over regular steel wheel nuts then the rust could change the size of the required wrench.size.if you have chrysler road side assitance(3year assitance)then they can get you a tow truck to change the tire if you call the 1-800 # if it hasn`t been over 3 years.other wise you may have to have it towed to a shop.

How do you remove the top nut on rear shocks on a 1996 Buick Lesabre Custom

The top of the shaft is squared off so a wrench can fit on it.
Slip a box wrench of the correct size over the shaft and round the nut the take a wrenc that fits the shaft and hold it steady whilee you loosen the nut.
They can be stubborn!

Factory supplied lug nut wrench will not fit in recessed area around the lug nut in order to lossen and remove the nut.

Most likely a 3/4" or 19mm deep socket-get one at sears

You could throw away, any wheel wrench made, in the last 60 years, they serve no purpose,as you found out.

What wrench is needed to remove the 2002 GTI lug nuts?

they are the locking wheel nuts(lugs)and you will need a key(not a hex allen key)to remove them.if you look close you will see that the sides are not equal.
I use a nut spilitter or an old socket hammered onto the nut to remove it,means replacements but next time you buy a car check to make sure you have the radio code and the wheel nut key.

I have an x type jaguar 2004 and am having problems removing the lug nuts. There's a flimsy outside casing that fits the supplied wrench but when applying tension, comes away from additional lug nuts...

go to parts house and buy a 4 way lug wrench for import(mm) sizes. they are available. ask parts guy if he will let you see if it will fit your car before buying. He let you try if the car is there.
