SOURCE: Battery wont keep charge

It seems as though the battery is feeding something that is turned on. Turn everything off in the car with the battery fully charged. Fold down the rear seat and see if the boot light is on. The problem can be found by trail and error. If you know a mate who can use a multimeter then he could do a check on the battery. If the battery is loosing its voltage, take out one fuse at a time to isolate which curcuit is drawing the power.

SOURCE: park lights and dash lights won't stop flashing

There is a small black box under dash by steering column that has a little red button on it. Push that button and it will reset the alarm. Whenever the power is removed from the system it will trigger that alarm and flash your lights. Easy quick fix. Box is about 4" x4" and just to the left of the column. Good luck and have a great day.

SOURCE: 2004 A 8L won"t start

starter wont click because there's not enough "juice" to turn it over. this isnt because of the battery as you have just replaced it. it is due to a bad alternator recharging the battery as you drive. if it were only a fuse it would be the solenoid in the starter. but if it had started after you installed the battery then its not the solenoid. solution: buy a refurbished alternator and

SOURCE: 2006 vw jettA 2.5....trouble starting

I had to take my car back to the dealership twice. First, they replaced the ignition switch. 3 days later, my car wouldn't start again. So I took it back and they called VW - VW said to replace the steering column module. I asked my dealer why they didn't replace the steering colum module first - they said that even if they had replaced that first, the old ignition switch would have shorted out the steering column module. Whatever.
$600 later my car has been fine for about 3 weeks now. If it happens again I will keep you posted.
Good luck!

When I start the car in the morning, it sputters maybe once or twice and then starts. Had a new battery fitted 3 months ago

Clean the throttle body and MAF sensor if you have one. Replace the air filter. No year make or model.

2001 3 door sports Auto Grand Vitara excessive fuel useage 150000klms good cond

Hi.....Daz...... what do you call excessive? Two things........ firstly you must make sure your vehicle is in optimum running condition, so you need to check and renew if required, things like air and fuel filters, plugs, check spark plug hi tension leads, coils and wiring harnesses, timing, injectors , engine management systems....... checking also for fuel leaks around pipes and unions and the tank. If all ok, then you must carry out a controlled fuel consumption check. fill your tank brimm full......note the mileage and drive the vehicle normally, do not make an effort to drive economicly, drive as you would daily for a couple hundred kms, return to tha same garage and same pump, brim the tank and note the mileage and litres filled and do a calculation of how many kms per litre... I think you might be surprised........... bear in mind that the vehicle has done in excess of 150000 k and as the engine gets older will loose some fuel efficciency..... its called wear and tear..... hope this helps.... Happy Christmas.......... Steve Botswana

Driving normal, at 80 kms, car seems to studder a bit, (gas wise) engine light comes on. Stop car, re-start, everything fine, no engine light, at 60 kms, fine, get up to 80 km, engine light comes on and...

First try replacing air filter if not done recently $30, next consider bad fuel put in fuel from major oil company from station with many patrons. Then you need to look at fuel delivery system including fuel filter and furl pump. But first try the 2 things mentioned.

Sounds like your alternator is bad and drained your battery. Try recharging your battery and putting a new alternator on it.

Lost all electrical power three times got it bach twice

Seems like a main power lead has corroded and is breaking contact.Trace the main power lead from the battery and clean up all downstream connections. This applies to ground wire as well. After sitting for a long time moisture can get into connections and cause this. Most times daily driving dries this out before it can give problems such as you outlined. If you try to start it in the dark, sometimes you can see some sparks at the affected connection!

Emissions test failure

hi what is meant by driving cycles are when you drive the car in all conditions accelerating stoping idling its a full range of what anormall driving run if you change a battery what you need to do is drive it in as many situations as metioned above so your ecu will learn what to do take it for a run between 50-60 mph for 30 secs take your foot of the acclerator see if it stalls if so do it again if after 3-4 times it doesn,t run correctly there is a problem with the sensors but usually sorts itself out i have done a job on a car in the afternoon and it takes till the following afternoon before it has relearned its setting be carefull while driving as the car can be unpredicitable stalling idling to fast ect but if it was ok before you changed the battery it will be ok yates210456
