Rule of thumb...unless you get a better answer:  look for a couple of wires on a small plate that is in the airflow of the fan on the heater/ac unit.  The resistor pack is always air cooled by the fan.

SOURCE: 2000 kia sportage ex, 4 cyl.

Yes there is a sensor that controls Fuel/air ratio. It's called a MAF (mass air flow sensor)
But I think you should have the EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation)valve checked
and The TPS (throttle position sensor)maybe dirty.

Although may things can cause this issue,I would look at the items above first.

2006 Kia Sportage V6. Need help removing starter guard but confused some say it's plastic but mine is metal?

There is one video that might help. Also the Kia Forums are a good source of information. There are two engines in the Sportage, a V6 and a straight 4, so that may be the difference in metal or plastic. There are only 2 bolts on the starter, but access is always hard unless you have ramps, a lift, or trolley jack and axle stands.

How to replace oil pan gasket on 05 Kia Sportage LX 2.7L?

Hello
Yes you can do the job at home but the engine must be lifted off the engine mounts to have enough room to access and remove the oil pan, a very difficult job on the ground, fairly easy on a car lift. The job at home is about a 3-4 hour job if you are an experienced car person and have the right tools, you will need a good 2-21/2 ton hydraulic floor jack (not the cheap little ones Autozone sells) and jack stands as well as a wooden block to raise the engine up so you won't damage the oil pan..
