SOURCE: Light bulbs behind the 3 heater/ac controls

to get to these you need to remove the box above by taking out the rectangular screw cover at the back and take out the one screw. gain access to the edge of the box with a flat tool and gently pull the box clear from its clips. now the 2 retaining screws should be visible that hold the controls in place after removing these you need to pull the controls quite firmly from its clips being careful not to damage the wiring to the back. this multiplug has to be released by pressing a retaing clip on the plug itself. once removed the whole unit needs to be separated into 2 halves being careful of static, by removing the screws on the back.once inside there are grey and white bulbs, white for the illumination and grey for the buttons (heated rear window and a/c etc)

SOURCE: need to replace dash board backlights - 2004 hyundai elantra

trying to do the same on my 01. ready to change the bulb but can't find it anywhere.
anyhow, here's how you do it:

remove the dash by taking out 2 screws behind the ashtray and 2 above the instrument cluster
begin prying off the dash from the ashtray up, when you reach the heater vents stop. next take a flat head screwdriver and pry off the dash from the left side with the door open. work left to right till you reach the heater vents and it'll come right off. you don't necessarily have to unplug any of the electric connectors if you don't want to, but you;ll have to reach around the dash while working. all you need to do now is remove the heater control unit via the 4 screws around it, then unplug the electric harnesses from the back of it. make sure you remember which goes where. the bulbs are the 3 white (or is it 2 white and 1 grey) circles on the back of the control unit. just turn them with a flathead screwdriver and turn it over and give it a little bump to get 'em to fall out (or grab 'em with a needle nose pliers if necessary). anyhow, that's how it's done, question is, where do ya find the bulbs?

We are trying to fix the heater on a 2003 dodge grand caravan new thermostat . computer reads that the AC is still on so it won't let the system switch the door from ac to heat.

not connected but indicates wrong wattage bulbs in use in the indicator system or a failing flasher box or control if you have a climate control system where the ac compressor is running all the time and the heater is controlled to maintain a set temperatuie , have that control module checked or replaced

Panel lights not lighting up

The panel where the ac/heater controls light up with 2 tiny bulbs placed right behind the round controls that turn the ac/heat on and the one that turns the setting from red to blue. theres 2 screws holding the panel on the dash and those are right under the radio. You'll need some needle nose pliers to get to the bulbs and they sell the bulbs at walmart.

Hi my name is eddie the heater blower little lights on the dash have gone out and my mirror light has gone out to

Behind the center knob for the heater controls there is a single small bulb that lights the whole heater control.
Move the switch to the vertical position, move the gear shift out of the way(shift to D or 1 with engine off, and set the parking brake). Use a pair of pliers with a rag to protect the knob and pull the center knob out. The bulb is directly behind it. The best way to remove and replace the bulb is with a piece of rubber vacuum hose. Gently push the hose over the bulb, then pull, the bulb should come out stuck in the hose.
You can install the same way, push the bulb in, then gently pull and twist the hose to release.
Be careful to align the bulb to its socket. If the knob is vertical the taper of the bulb base should also be vertical.
Then just push the knob back on, remembering that it is aligned to a vertical position.

Need more info on the mirror light. You mean the light in the mirror switch?

Dash bulb out behind ac/heater controls

If I remember rightly, on a mark 4 golf2_bing.gif, the middle of the three heater control knobs pulls off. The bulb is right in behind it and lights up the whole panel. I would think a beatle will be the same. give it a try.

96 4Runner - Help with Dash lights

You need to replace the bulbs behind the heater control. The bulbs have rather large filaments, and hitting the control sometimes makes the filaments "weld themselves" back together for a short time. I would not suspect a short or a loose wire.

Fan or heater switches bulb gone

Apparently, this problem you are experiencing is quite common in VW MK4 Golfs, it's not the bulb but the lighting connection behind your switch. If you bang the right hand side sides your gan controls your fan lights should appear again. Sounds crazy but it's true. I know few people with VW Golf who have this problem.
