The relay is in a bracket that is above where your wiring harness from the motor goes in through your fire wall to inside the car.there should be two sensors one for fan and one for day time running lights which are same senors numbers according to G.M

I have an 86 Z28 and the cooling fan relay is mounted on the firewall between the master cylinder for the brakes and the drivers side fender.
There is another fan relay for models with AC mounted on the passenger side of the radiator that runs both fans (on AC equipped models) when the AC is on.

Where is cooling fan sensor located on 1991 camaro rs 305 engine

My info says upper engine, center, close to water outlet, for the coolant temp sensor.
If your not sure look up wiring diagram for that sensor, note the wire colors. Autozone.com has free wiring diagrams as well as bbbind.com

I have a 1988 camaro iroc with the fuel injected 305, my radiator cooling fan doesnt work and i just replaced the fan motor. Could it be a bad relay or bad ecm unit??

Well, yes and no.
Yes the relay or the computer could be faulty.
But the computer is not going to ground the relay until the engine temp reaches about 225 degrees.
Since the thermostat opens at 195 degrees running at 200 is normal.

Cooling fan problem on 1992 pontica firebird

The cooling fan switch is built into the ECM. The ECM tells the fan to turn on at about 220 degrees. If you have a bad coolant temp sensor you might have trouble there. Usualy I find the relay or fan motor to be the problem. In some cases the ECM or CTS is the problem. I hope this helps.
Thank You,

You may want to check the radiator, as they can get blocked and prevent proper cooling. You can back flush it by removing the upper and lower hose and running water in the top and out the bottom.
