How to remove my power steering pump

hope this one help http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/maintenance/3322636
This instructable is designed into four main parts. Here's the outline:

1) Gather the materials
-- Instructable step 1 - This includes tools, a new pump, fluids, etc.
2) Remove the leaking pump
-- Instructable step 2 - Drain the Power Steering system
-- Instructable step 3 - Remove accessories from Power Steering system
-- Instructable step 4 - Remove the pulley and bolts
-- Instructable step 5 - Remove power steering pump
3) Install the new pump
-- Instructable step 6 - Place the new power steering pump
-- Instructable step 7 - Press on the power steering pump pulley
-- Instructable step 8 - Align the pulley and attach the belts
-- Instructable step 9 - Flush and fill the power steering system
4) Cleanup
-- Instructable step 10 - Cleanup

You'll need some tools to complete this task. Before you start, gather the necessary equipment -- you will not be able to use the car once you start the replacement! It is always a good idea to have a friend on call, or a second car available.

Equipment list:

  • Power Steering pump (to replace defective pump)
  • Two (2) quarts power steering fluid or appropriate ATF (to flush and fill). More than 2 quarts if flushing the rack is desired.
  • Power Steering Pulley Puller set (to remove and attach the pulley). Some auto parts stores will loan the tool sets.
  • Socket set.
  • Open end wrench set (for use with puller set).
  • Leverage pipe or extension bar (in case the pulley is hardened on the spindle).
  • Drain pan (to drain & flush power steering system).
  • Wheel bearing grease for sliding pulley on the pump hub.
  • 2' wood 1x2 for assistance with aligning the pulleys. Any straight tool will work fine -- a level, metal rod, wood, whatever.

DO I NEED A NEW WATER PUMP?

  • Step 1 Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. When the engine is cool, drain the cooling system from the radiator into the pan and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Step 2 Take the accessory drive belt out of the engine and disconnect the heater hose from the water pump.
  • Step 3 Remove the lower radiator hose from the engine (unless you are working with a diesel engine).
  • Step 4 Disconnect the heater hose from the pump, remove the upper radiator hose and take out the fan and shroud assembly.
  • Step 5 Loosen and remove all 4 bolts from the water pump pulley and take out the pulley (except on 4.7L engines) and loosen and remove the bolt to the heater hose pipe.
  • Step 6 Loosen the clamp to the bypass hose attached to the water pump (except on 4.7L engines) and remove the 7 bolts connected to the water pump. Remove the one nut in the 4.7L engines. Take note of the bolts locations, as they are of varying lengths.
  • Step 7 Clean all mating surfaces and install the new water pump with a new gasket and o-ring, lubricating it with petroleum jelly. Tighten the bolts to 40 foot pounds (54 Nm) on the 4.7L engine, and 30 foot pounds (40 Nm) on the other engines.
  • Step 8 Install all components in the reverse order in which they were removed. Use sealant on the heater hose pipe when installing and tighten the nut to 12 foot pounds (16 Nm), making sure that the pipe bracket slot is against the mounting bolt. Tighten the pulley bolts to 16 foot pounds (22 Nm) on the V-10 and 20 foot pounds (27 Nm) on V-6 and V-8.
  • Step 9 Reconnect the negative batter cable, and refill the engine's cooling system with coolant. Start the car and check for leaks when the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
    2.5L Durango Engine
  • Step 1 Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. When the engine is cool, drain the cooling system from the radiator into the pan and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Step 2 Take the accessory drive belt out of the engine and disconnect the heater hose from the water pump.
  • Step 3 Remove the lower radiator hose from the engine (unless you are working with a diesel engine.)
  • Step 4 Disconnect the heater hose from the pump.
  • Step 5 Take out the power steering pump.
  • Step 6 Loosen and remove the four bolts to the water pump, taking note of their locations as one is longer than the other bolts.
  • Step 7 Install the water pump, making sure to install a new gasket, tightening the bolts to 22 foot pounds (30 Nm). Apply a bead of silicone to the gasket making sure the silicone is facing toward the water pump when installing.
  • Step 8 Reinstall and reconnect all components in the reverse order in which they were removed.
  • Step 9 Reconnect the negative batter cable, and refill the engine's cooling system with coolant. Start the car and check for leaks when the engine reaches normal operating temperature.

Water pump replacement-putting it back in and setting the timing.

    1. Step 1 Park your car overnight and put a large white piece of paper underneith your car. In the morning check the paper. If the paper is wet with liquid, you could have a water pump leak.
    2. Step 2 If the paper has green (in most cases) fluid on it, there is a good chance your vehicle is leaking coolant (sometimes refered to as "water"). In many cases, when you are leaking coolant it could be coming from the water pump.
    3. Step 3 Turn the engine off and open the hood.
    4. Step 4 Locate the water pump pulley. The pulley is the round part that the belt is attached to. To find it, look for the belts. You will see more than one pulley. Your car will have an alternator with a pulley and perhaps an air conditionermag-glass_10x10.gif, power steering and smog pump pulleys. If you are unsure, ask your mechanic to point out the water pump pulley.
    5. Step 5 Grab opposite ends of the round pulley and check for "play" (looseness): Try to rock it back and forth. There should be no give. If there is, the bearings are going and it's time to replace the water pump. By the time you can feel play in the water pump pulley, you may also be able to hear the bad bearing when the engine is running - there may be a low-pitched grinding noise coming from the water pump pulley.
    6. Step 6 Visually check the water pump (it's located behind the pulley) for signs of a coolant leak. If the water pump gasket is leaking, it must be replaced. This is a good time to get a new water pump, too, unless it was just recently replaced

    Fuel pump replacement

How to Replace a Fuel Pump

    Parts:
    1. Fuel Pump - $51.16

    ff89027.jpg

DELPHI, ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP -- Meets Or Exceeds OEM Quality, Matches The Genuine Fit And Function

    Tools:
    1. 3/8 in. Drive Ratchet
    2. Floor Jack
    3. Multimeter
    4. Jack Stand Set
    5. Flat Head Screwdriver
    6. Mallet Hammer
    7. Socket Set

    Steps:
Step 1 * Locate the fuel pump.
o Tip: Safety Tip:Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or safety shoes.

Step 2 * Have a friend turn the key to the“ON” position while you listen for a high pitched hiss/whine coming from the electric fuel pump.
o Tip: If the fuel pump is located in the fuel tank, you can open the fuel cap and listen to hear the fuel pump. The fuel pump should run (priming the system with fuel) for a couple of seconds. Once it stops, you should be able to start the vehicle.

Step 3 * If the fuel pump does not make a sound (run and prime the fuel system) check to see if there is a fuse that supplies power to the fuel pump and check its location.
o Tip: Check the owner’s manual for location of the fuse box and fuel pump fuse.

Step 4 * Once you have found the location of the fuel pump fuse, remove the fuse from its housing and check to see if it is blown.
o Tip: A blown fuse will usually have a metal strip connecting both tabs that“blows out” (the wire looks as if it has been chopped in half or broken).

Step 5 * If you noticed that the fuse was blown, replace the fuse with a new fuse of the same amperage and repeat step 2.

Step 6 * If the fuel pump now works, you do not need to replace it. However, you will need to find what caused the fuel pump fuse to blow. We strongly recommend that this is done through a certified shop, unless you have the tools and knowledge to test electrical systems and diagnose more in depth problems.

Step 7 * If the fuse wasn’t blown, it should be checked for power and ground at the fuel pump. If there is power and ground present then you will need to replace the fuel pump.
o Tip: On most vehicles you may need to lower the fuel tank to access the power and ground leads for the fuel pump.

Step 8 * Siphon or drain as much fuel as possible from the fuel tank. Disconnect any possible fuel lines from the fuel tank.

Step 9 * Remove any retaining straps or bolts holding the fuel tank to the frame.
o Tip: You may be able to access the fuel pump from the bottom of the back seat or the trunk of the vehicle.

Step 10 * Using a digital multi meter, turn the key to the“ON” position and check for power at the fuel pump. Touch the negative lead from the DMM to a good ground and the positive lead of the DMM to the power cable at the fuel pump. You should have a reading that is equal to battery power. If you do not have a reading at all, you will need to inspect the power side of the fuel pump.
o Tip: With the ground lead of the DMM still connected to a good ground, touch the power lead to the positive side of the battery, to each side of the fuse, and again to the fuel pump. Wherever you notice the voltage reading goes from battery voltage to 0 you will need to replace whatever wires and fuse are in between.

Step 11 * If you have noticed that the power and ground being supplied to the fuel pump are both good, then you will need to replace the fuel pump.
o Tip: To check for a good ground, place the negative lead from the DMM to the ground side of the fuel pump, and the positive lead of the DMM to the positive side of the battery. If the reading on the DMM is battery voltage then you have a good ground.

Step 12 * Remove any retaining rings or bolts that hold the fuel pump in the fuel tank.

Step 13 * Remove any electrical connections or fuel lines connected to the fuel pump. Replace the fuel pump.
o Tip: If equipped, inspect and replace strainer as needed.

Step 14 * Use reverse procedure to install fuel pump and assemble all components back to their original state.

Step 15 * Start the vehicle to verify repairs.

Good job (remember rated and comment this help).
