I have a 04 Yukon that does not want to start on less than 1/4 tank of gas and it has sat over night. You can run it until its bone dry and it will run fine. You can also have low levels of gas and go out and start it after an hour or two or three and it will start fine. It's just that eight hour period that seems to effect it. Also I can hear the gas tank expand and contract (pop) after starting and shutting off. I don't believe it's the fuel pump because it does not run rough when fuel is low, and I do not make a normal practice of running on low levels of fuel. Any ideas
Have your evaporative emission control system check.sound like you have purge valve solenoid not working or vent valve control solenoid.have it scan.to see which component not working..reason your gas tank expanding. your fuel vapor building up pressure.your purge valve and vent valve open allowing gas vapor from charcoil canister. to be burn in the intake manifold to be burn in combustion chamber.
