Electrical? engine light on sometimes - had light checked and was told fuel sensor problem (which it prob was because the fuel needle only moved after filling miles down the road). Replaced sensor...engine light still occasionally pops on. dome light stopped working-already changed bulb-worked 1 week and automatic door locks do not work immediately and steering is sluggish when first turning after starting and lower dash lights won't come on unless knocked with fingers. what's happening?

My wife had a car 06 cobalt which the electric motor on power assist steering quit running, AC seemed to not put out and issues with the lights. The dealer wanted over 400 dollars to repair. She drove it home to let me try to figure it out. A couple days later the car would not crank so I replaced the battery and all the problems were gone. If the check engine light is not giving you a code to help I would suggest load test battery(a battery can have good voltage but volt drop can indicate it is going bad) and check alternator output.

Sounds like you have some EGR ports clogged up, remove the intake and look at the egr ports all but
#1 cyl port will probably be at least partially clogged, hope this helps

SOURCE: power winidows, wipers, dome lights not working on 1998 explorer

This could be a combination of electrical issues, although i feel that the timing is coincidence in this case. When the combination is elec. windows, wipers, and dome lights this is indicative of the GEM module located behind your radio. The GEM (generic electronic module) is an electronic body control module that regulates electrical flow through a number of accessories.

These factory module boards are notorious for acting quirky by failing to ground intermittently until failing completely. I would be cautious in replacing ignition switches, locks, etc. as the issue can be also compounded by corrosion of the main battery ground wire in the engine compartment and which can cause frying of your under dash wiring into the main wiring harness which can get expensive (i speak from experience having had the exact same syptoms). My issues were that these symptoms occurred only in full ON. When in key BACK ACC mode, they disappeared.

New price for one of these modules is around $280-$300 and easily replaced.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Radio and interior dome lights have no power.

I just had the same problem with my 2001 escape from relacing the radio and wires accidently crossed. I switched both fuses like you said, and got no where...until....I noticed there is a 10 fuse hidden on the far right side of the panel, closest to the brake pedal. The fuse actually runs vertical unlike any of the other fuses which run horizontal, so it is kind of hidden..try that fuse, it should solve your problem, if not then I don't know sorry..

Saturn ion randomly shuts off

Experiencing random stalling issues with your 2006 Saturn Ion can be frustrating. There could be several potential causes for this problem, and it would be best to have a qualified mechanic perform a thorough diagnosis. However, here are a few common issues to consider: 1. Faulty Ignition Switch: A faulty ignition switch can cause intermittent loss of power and result in the engine shutting off unexpectedly. If the switch is worn or damaged, it may disrupt the electrical connection to the engine, causing the stalling. Consider having the ignition switch inspected and potentially replaced if necessary. 2. Fuel Delivery Issues: Insufficient fuel supply or a malfunctioning fuel pump can lead to engine stalling. Check for fuel-related problems such as a clogged fuel filter, a failing fuel pump, or issues with the fuel injectors. A mechanic can perform fuel pressure tests to assess the fuel delivery system. 3. Electrical System Problems: Issues with the electrical system, such as loose or corroded connections, can disrupt the power supply to critical engine components, resulting in engine stalling. Have the battery, alternator, wiring, and connections inspected for any signs of damage or poor connectivity.

4.Engine Control Module (ECM) Malfunction: The interruption of power to the computer, as indicated by the check engine light, could suggest a problem with the ECM itself. It may be necessary to have the ECM thoroughly inspected or potentially reprogrammed or replaced. 5. Sensor Malfunctions: Faulty sensors, such as the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor, can cause intermittent engine shutdown. These sensors provide crucial information to the ECM for proper engine operation. If any of these sensors fail or send incorrect signals, it can lead to stalling or engine shutdown. It's important to have a qualified mechanic perform a diagnostic scan and conduct further testing to pinpoint the exact cause of the stalling issue. They can use specialized equipment to monitor various systems, retrieve error codes, and identify any underlying problems. This will help in accurately diagnosing and resolving the issue with your Saturn Ion.

03 Chevy trailblazer stops accelerating on highway. Then bearly moves and shuts off constantly. Gas gauge goes up and down under 1/4 tank. Is this a fuel problem. Help!!

Without testing we'd only be guessing . Hooking up a factory or a professional type scanner , an checking engine sensor data parameters , checking fuel pressure an flow , basic electrical system testing - battery condition , charging system output testing etc.... GM did have instrument cluster problems , late 90's - mid 2000's . Stepper motor's inside the cluster that drive the gauge needles , an silver migration . Can cause all kind of electrical issues , battery draining over night , starting problems ,warning lights coming on etc....
How to repair GM Instrument Cluster Speedometer Gauge Stepper

Your best bet , take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

Help my 95 blazer is turning on idles up and down funny as if it's gonna die, 30 sec later it does. All the while spitting black smoke. Sometimes will start back up.. Mostly stAyes dead!:( help!...

The blocked fuel filter is incorrect, fuel is whats causing the black smoke. I would check for a stuck or bad EGR valve, sometimes you can clean them sometimes you just have to replace. I bet it really sucks trying to keep it running at a stop or traffic light.

Hi, It seems most of your prob could be from worn engine mounts. Have a helper shift from 1st to reverse and see how much the engine moves. [at a fast idle, brake held firm, stand to the side]
This will not cure the prob! Yet My thought is that you will now need to check all the wiring that was involved in this movement.Hope this helps you! Frankster016
