4 answers · Top answer: In order to reset the anti theft system on Your 2007 Chevy Malibu You'll first need to put the key in the ignition and move it in to the on position. ...
Here are two methods to reset the anti-theft system on 2007 Chevy Malibu:
1st method
1. Put the ignition in on position, let it breathe for 10 minutes, and remove it when the anti-theft system light stops blinking.
2. Crank up the engine; it should now start
2nd method
• While outside the car, press and hold the lock and unlock button together
• Let go when the car honks and the lights flash
• Put the key in the ignition and rotate to the ON position, and leave there for 30 seconds
• Switch on the car, and the anti-theft system would have reset
You need to reset the theft system. To do this, try to start it. It should start and die. Then after it dies and the theft light is flashing, leave the key on for 10 minutes. After 10 min, the theft light should go out. After the theft light goes out, turn off the key. Count to 5, then restart it. Then it should work.
you can easily bypass the security system entirely. There is a great write-up here http://newrockies.ca . That was the only solution that saved my Park Avenue.
On line there are instructions for cutting the anti-theft wire. Very easy to do, but you have to leave car run while you do it. You have to pop radio out and it is a yellow wire behind it. I cut 3 different yellow wires and re-taped them until I found it. Anti-theft light will always stay and never shut off. I did this 4 months ago, and so happy that I did. Very easy fix.
With the car RUNNING cut the yellow wire to the ignition switch from the group of three wires. Make sure the car is RUNNING when the wire is cut. Tape the ends and thats it.....the car will start first time from now on....as long as you don't mind not having anti theft.
This is the anti-theft PASSLOCK system. You can purchase a paslock 2 bypass system that will bypass the anti-theft othewise you will have to wait the 10 minutes with the key on the ON position and turn over immediately when anti-theft light turns off
