Question about Hummer Cars & Trucks

2 Answers

Windshield crack I'm not sure how I got a thin crack in my windshield. There is a long line going through my windshield from the passenger side which started under the wipers. It was small yesterday, but now has spread up and across to the middle of my windshield. It does not appear that a rock hit the windshield as there is no cracks anywhere just the line. Do you know how this happened? Am I able to get this repaired or will the entire windshield need to be replaced? It's been very cold so I have to turn my defroster on and I'm thinking this is causing the spread.

Will need to replace -and will continue to grow from body flex to use of defrosters -and usually a rock, pebble or some sort of hard debris will cause damage

If your crack is shorter than a $1 bill, it can be repaired, I recommend Safelite auto glass. If it is greater than that, it will need to be replaced. If replacement is needed, there are many coupons that will cover the deductable upto $100 (I think)....check in the phone book.

SOURCE: passenger side leak under dash board

Ok take off the windshield wiper arms, then remove the plastic piece under the wipers below the windshield, there is a tray under there and some drain holes, you may have to remove some more plastic pieces once you remove the one below the windshield (some models are slightly different) clear out all the tree leaves and pine needles and such from the tray there are drain holes in the enter, and on each end push a long flexable rod down carefully or compressed air really works the best this is you problem it needs to be done every few years or more often if you park under trees.
If this information is helpful please give me a fixya! Rating , Thank you, Randy

SOURCE: Windshield wiper arm on passenger side won't move.

It will not be the motor, it will be the linkage or the wiper is slipping on the shaft, the lingkage is accsessible under the cowl, Hope this solves your problem and Merry Christmas

SOURCE: my driver side windshield wiper

I just solved this problem last night with my '05 Impala, and ultimately the solution was what newton5083 stated above.  Yet, it may also be this (I found it online somewhere):
You have bent or broken the "park tab" on the windshield wiper motor bracket. The correct way to fix this is to remove the wiper arms, wiper linkage and wiper motor from the wiper motor bracket, and install a new bracket.
I just bent the tab back into place a couple times for our daughters 2005 Impala but it kept getting bent down again when they didn't take the time to make sure the wipers were not frozen to the windshield, or tried running the wipers to remove heavy snow on the windshield. So yesterday I fabricated a small piece of metal and bolted that to the bracket in the same place the tab stop was.
If someone wants to access this bracket and tab-
1. Use a ½ inch or 13mm socket & ratchet or wrench to remove nuts on wiper arms.
2. They may make a special tool to remove the arms, I used a screwdriver and hammer to tap bottom of the arm to wedge them apart from the spindle.
3. Two small button-looking clips hold the drivers side cowl cover in place under the windshield. These are two-piece clips, pry up the center, than the outer piece.
4. Unclip the washer hose from cowl cover, than pull out plastic cover.
5. There is a smaller plastic cover with on plastic button head holding that cover in place. Gently pry under that clip to remove that cover.
6. Now you can see the wiper trans and bracket. You should see a small tab on that bracket that looks pushed down and bent or possible a square small hole with some torn off metal where the tab broke off.
7. Remove small plastic cover over the wiper transmission and you can see a small spring-loaded arm underneath the wiper transmission assembly.
8. You need to find something to pry that tab back up so when the wipers are running that spring loaded little arm just snaps past the tab running clockwise. It's when you shut off the wipers that the wiper transmission assembly reverses rotation counter clockwise and the small spring loaded arm underneath hits that tab stop, than the wipers will go all the way down and shut off as they should.
Once that tab stop gets bent out of the way the little spring loaded arm has nothing to stop the wiper transmission assembly so it keeps traveling counter clockwise until some other stop shuts the wipers off straight up on the windshield.

There is a revised bracket part # which is supposed to be more durable, GM part #12368639. Here is a copy of the TSB which points out this problem:
Bulletin No.: 05-08-43-003A
Date: March 10, 2005
TECHNICAL
Subject:
Windshield Wipers Park in Up Position (Replace Windshield Wiper Motor Bracket)
Models:
2005 Chevrolet Impala, Monte Carlo
Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to make a correction to the Parts Information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-08-43-003 (Section 08-Body and Accessories).

Condition
Some customers may comment that the windshield wipers park in the out wipe (vertical) position.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a bent park tab on the windshield wiper motor bracket.

Correction
To correct this condition, replace the wiper motor bracket. It will be necessary to transfer the following parts listed below to the new bracket.
^ Wiper transmission
^ Wiper motor crank arm
^ Wiper motor
1. Remove the windshield wiper motor drive system module.
2. Remove the windshield wiper transmission from the windshield wiper motor bracket.
3. Remove the wiper motor crank arm from the windshield wiper motor.
4. Remove the windshield wiper motor from the bracket.
5. Install the windshield wiper motor to the new bracket.
6. Install the wiper motor crank arm to the windshield wiper motor.
7. Install the windshield wiper transmission to the windshield wiper motor bracket.
8. Install the windshield wiper motor drive system module.

A TSB is not a recall, if vehicle is still under warranty the dealer should be repaired for free. If not, you'll have to pay for the repairs.

SOURCE: need to replace passenger side view mirror 200 GMC Jimmy Diamond

On my '97, there was a triangular shaped piece of plastic on the inside trim that had to be removed. I think all three mounting screws were under that. It's been a few years, but I think that was how it was done.
I remember it was pretty easy though.

Well its actually a big leak. Looks like its behind a second water tank . Not sure what that is. Its located passenger side at the bottom . This tank is placed on the motor.

One tank is for windshield solvent. The other is for the engine coolant. You need to pull the engine coolant tank and make it isn't cracked. Once out, you'll see the crack if it leaks bad enough. Even small cracks are easy to see. replace it necessary. Check the coolant line/s going to it also.

Windshield washer fluid only working on passenger side

nozzle stopped up with wax, or tubing is stopped up, pump motor may be running, but pump isn't. Check for pressure at the pumps. Tubing sometimes comes off or has cracks that let washer fluid escape. Its sounds like a search till you find it type thing. Can't be too much, either a blown fuse, faulty pump/motor, or faulty tubing/clogged nozzle

2005 Dodge Durango. Amp Shortage?? suspect water leak in area of amp. Now no sound at all. No radio, navigation system, cd player, sattelite radio

many of these 04-06 durangos have a leak problem at the top of the windshield on passenger side which leads to water getting into the passenger kickpanel where the amplifier is located. I had my windshield replaced for a crack and there was rust forming behind the top passenger side of windshield...( same with the rear hatch above the passenger side of the chrome molding that covers the handle. My radio went on and off depending on when it rained. Now it doesn't work at all. I plan to check for fuses related to the amp tonight to decipher whether the fuse just blew or that the amp was fried from the water.

When it rains puddles of water on the passenger side floorboards mostly in the back not coming from sunroof and theres a crack in my windshield thought it might be that but the dashboard is never wet so...

The cowl drains could be clogged. Trace from the opening at the base of the windshield down to door hinges and look for debris such as leaves in the opening behind the hinges. You may have to use a coat hanger as a special tool to remove the debris.

Water on passenger side floor

If it's just water, then the drain from the heater box may be plugged. On the lower part of the firewall on the passenger's side theres a drain tube, this may be plugged with leaves, etc. Find and clean the junk out, you will have to do this from under the car, careful as the water will drain out and get you wet.
If the " water " is coolant [ you should smell it ] then the heater core has failed and needs to be replaced.

Passenger footwell fills up with water after rain. Notice thin line of water? running down middle of carpet directly under dashboard. No other signs of water/moisture in car. Other than replacing...

IT sounds like the screen BUT check the vent under the w/screen as the vent is for the heater air into the car but it has 2 pipes 1 down the left hand side and comes out under the gaurds ,and the same for the right hand side so make sure is clean by putting compressed air up there and blow out any dirt or what ever ,other wise the w/screen the answer,.
you can also put the water hose in either side of vant and see if the water comes in if not WELL..
