97 firebird formula hard to cold start

My car has been hard to cold start latly, after I crank it a few times it will start fine. Seems like its not getting fuel. My catalytic converters are bad, but have been for a little while now. The other code that it registers is p0171 and p0172 I think... too lean on both sides, but when the car starts it smells rich.
I was guessing O2 sensors, or fuel pressure regulator, but I dont know. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Check the cold start injector useing a digital multimeter with a bar graph. Unplug the injector wires and insert the probes into the wiring plug, crank the engine and the bar graph should pulse if it does remove the injector and with the wiring reconnected and the injector held over a suitable container crank the engine and observe the spray pattern. If insufficient replace injector. This should be a starting point at least

Try loosening the bolt on the bottom of the distributor crank engine then turn the distributor a little it should advance or retard depending on direction you turn it you will be able to tell.

I have trouble starting my 2007 HHR upon initial start-up. it sputters but after a few seconds of that it starts to run fine. I can stop somewhere turn it off and crank it again and it starts fine seems...

this could be a bad fuel pump that has a problem from sitting over night or when it cools down enough.the armature in the pump may be worn and when its cold it has a hard time turning the pump because of it being worn and when it gets warmed up enough the clearance is closer than when cold and works fine.

Hard to start cold but once running is ok

I believe you have a throtle body correct? IF so you have poor fuel pressure, plugged filter of injector. If by some miracle you have a carberated engine the the fuel is leaking from the bowl. Get a carb rebuild kit.

1995 pontiac firebird formula v8 idle

The idle speed is not adjustable, it is computer (PCM) controlled, you can turn the screw for the hard stop, but the computer will just over ride that adjustment for the most part, what I think you may need to do is clean the throttle valve and the idle speed control air bypass valve, use carb spray, spray it in the intake with the engine running use the at least 1/2 the can, the engine will try to stall, keep it running, after you are done disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, reconnect and drive a few days so the computer (PCM) can relearn your driving habits and set the idle correctly based on your driving.
