TOOK MY CAR TO REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE IT HAD POOR IDLE WHEN POOR IDLE ACCURED IT STALLED OUT AND WOULDNOT START BACK.THE SHOP SAID IT WAS MY CATALYSTIC CONVERTORS AND PEDAL POSSION SENSOR REPLACED BOTH PARTS.A WEEK LATER CAR DID THE SAME THING,IDLED BAD STALLED OUT THEN WOULDNOT START UP CRANKS FINE BUT DIDNOT START,SAME PROBLEM.

I have a 2001 Lexus RX300 with 120,000 miles on it and I know exactly what is wrong with this car. You either need a new a new Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) or you must clean the one you have with some throttle body cleaner. I cleaned mine a couple of years ago. They are usually good for about 80,000 miles and then they get dirty due to emission controls (smog being recirculated and reburned). The IACV is located near the trottle body on the underside. Check lexusownersclub.com and you will see specific instructions on how to clean this throttle body. It costs you a can of throttle body cleaner and some of your time and this condition will not occur again - I did it!

Had same problem on 93 LS400, timing was off one tooth on left camshaft gear. Replaced belt and reset and no more problems. (Spent 1200.00 on repairs I did'nt need)
