My car stalls out has loss of power when stopping runs a little rough and it takes a long time to fill the gas tank like it shuts the pump off like its full when its not.

The fluids are all good not running hot at all just the stalling, loss of power when stopping and hard to fill gas tank up. gave a tune up and still runs a bit off. spark plugs didn't look too bad just looked worn. I don't think its a head gasket or blown head problem since never lose fluid or car never overheats and never gets hot.

Unfortunately, you've got serious problems. The GM 3.1 and 3.4 engines have a nasty habit of breaking camshafts. For some reason, which I have yet to determine, the cam bearings seize on the cam and the camshaft ends up breaking in half. The engine will continue to run, albeit very poorly since all the cylinders are not working because the rear half of the camshaft, which runs the oil pump, is not spinning.

Need to check for fault codes. Possibly a faulty sensor causing the fuel system to run rich or lean.

Sounds like your car is overheating. If you have a temp gauge it should show that. If you just have an idiot light, by the time it comes on it's already too hot to operate. AFTER the car is cooled down, open the radiator cap to see how much coolant has been lost. Chances are there is alot missing. Add WATER (no sense in adding coolant if it's going to leak out) and idle the car at home. Look underneath as it warms up to find where the leak is.

First thing, is your chk. engine light on? if it is, you can chk. the codes yourself, get a paper clip unfold it so you got 2 strate ends, find your dianostics port where you plug in the sccanner, take the paper clip and stick one end into the one on the far right and the other to the one next to it and turn ignition key to on position, chk. engine should start blinking if not move the last end of paper clip you pluged in to next one in port until it does( turning key off each time before you move paper clip end) do this procedure until the light starts to blink. When it blinks count the blinks, for example it will blink one time than a paus than blink twice quick witch means 12 and so on. It will start out with a 12 witch means the computer is ready to give stored codes. Just write down the codes and either take them to napa, or auto zone, or to a shop you know, and they can tell you what they mean. On a car that old it could be almost anything, parts wear out, but right now what stands out to me by your discription i would chk. the cadalitic converter it might be pluged. Take some advise get someone that knows something about cars or at least works on them on a regulator bases. That way your not playing a gessing game.

Fuel injectors go bad on these engines, you can find re manned ones for 30 bucks. If you have an engine light on get that read. Change your coil/wires/plugs also. Is the lower intake manifold gasket leaking coolant yet? You may want to get that replaced also. Check the TPS too (throttle positioning sensor) those will also cause your engine to act up

I believe fuel pump bad in 2004 durango 4x4 hemi Cranks but no start. Wanted to check fuses and relays for it

Something to think about. You should never let a gas tank run out or low as this is where any dirt settles at the bottom of the tank. I have seen a problem like yours and the fuel filter was plugged because of dirt in the bottom of the tank. Should never let a tank get lower than a quarter of a tank.

Your the 9 this week with this type of problem and most of the time its due to the fueltank breather pipe is blocked or kinked and not letting air into the tank so you can only take out a little and then it wont
pump out an more owing to to much vacuum in tank stop for 3 to 5 minutes and you go further ..so leave filler cap loose when filling and shut the door and see if its ok and no more stopping try it and let me know

Rough idle, cruise control also stopped working

Sounds like you could have gotten some water in your fuel tank from that fill up. Go to a autoparts store and get a product to put in the tank that takes care of water in fuel. Use it when you fill the tank up a few times after and hopefully it goes away. Whenever you can't sustain power in the engine or it runs rough then your cruise control will constantly be shut off because the engine doesn't have the power to keep the speed up and should go away once your engine is running clean again.

Good Luck

1996 Chrysler Sebring fuel pump automatic shut off

It sounds like the vent hose or tube from the fuel tank to the side of the inlet assembly is restricted. It can be twisted or bent. I've seen one case where it was misrouted and smashed against the frame rail. The vent tube allows air to escape while filling with fuel.

Stalls after getting gas then starts fine. Also noticed it idles rough at other times. No trouble codes. Any thoughts?

When it stalls after getting gas, are you filling the tank up beyond the first stop? I was filling mine up after the pump shuts itself off in order to top it off as much as possible. I learned this can plug some type of purge vent or something like that. I stopped topping it off and haven't had a problem since. Mine would hesitate and then die at the first couple stop lights after getting gas. From what I've read, the cheap fix is not to fill it up past the stop point, but the permanent fix is to replace the gas tank since the vent physically part of the tank.

I have had this problem. if the spluttering start at a certain point on the fuel gauge. and when you fill it up it goes ok. then the fuel pump in the tank is breaking down. because when it gets to a level the pump has to work harder to pull up the fuel. however if it happens at any level of petrol that can be muck in the tank. or muck in the filler cap key hole. some cars breath through there. clean it in boiling water. now for muck in fuel try AMITECH products sludge remover. $8 or so. first . or you could try taking the pipe of the carbaretter and blowing air back into the tank. blasting away muck from pump it will not hurt it. might go for a while. failing that drain the tank and clean out with sludge remover. the other thing it could be is a slight hole in the tank. probably not. or a relay that gets hot.test relays do air thing try sludge remover and boil petrol cap before spending any money. use the air line that fills the tyres but take off pettrol cap first. just a little blast will do. few things to try there. hope it helps or you have to drop the tank clean it and change fuel pump. and thats expensive. liz
