Hyundai 2002 sonata,,,, car has power locks.

Hyundai 2002 sonata,,,, car has power locks. Using car key I can unlock all doors simultaneously. But I cannot lock doors using the key. Also paddle switch on drivers side door functions to open all locks but does not lock the doors when paddle switch is pressed to lock them. My guess is that the common line that powers all the locking actuators has become permanently open either by faulty connector, fuse open or common supply wire breakage. Could also be a failure of a relay if such is installed to power the common line. Schematics would be helpful.

You are correct in your assumption about a relay... there are two relays. One is for 'LOCKING' the other is for 'UN-LOCKING.' They are both labeled as "LOCK" relays (1 & 2). You can verify if a relay is bad by swapping one with the other. If the problem moves to 'unlocking' the doors, but will NOW LOCK - the relay is bad. If not, further troubleshooting is necessary.

2006 hyundai sonata died, we replaced the battery then the alternator and we still can't get it started. I isn't even making a sound as we turn the key

Does it have anti-'theft?. If so, try this. with the key in hand close the doors. Put the key in door lock cylinder. Then lock the car. wait a few seconds (10-15) then unlock the car. Open door and try to start vehicle. You may have to do it 2-3 times. Lock-unlock sequence.

Buy 2002 Santa Fe Nov 16, couldn't unlock doors to

i had a problem not unlike this in my santa fe 1.9td uk spec.
my car had been sitting for a few months and when i returned to drive it again the same problem came to light.
i also rep[lsaced the key fob.
it could be one of two things.
firstly the systen might neen re-set. if you disconnect the battery for 2 hours then attach ti again it might work.
if this fails it might be the actuator in one of the doors. if it is faulty then it only semi closes the lock, but it then thinks that has to lock again. and locks the door.
hope this helps.

2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. KEY FOBS WILL UNLOCK ALL

Replace the "lock" relay, found behind the fuse box. You have to stick your head where the gas pedal is, and look at the top end of the back of the fuse panel. There are 2 small square plastic boxes. Unplug them, spray them with electrical cleaning spray, and switch their spots. If everything works, there was some contact problem, if door will now lock but not unlock, one of the relays is bad. Part number "HMC DECO 95225 - 38300".

My 02 Sonata can be unlocked (all 4 doors) from the outside using the key in either the driver or passenger door, but will not lock. Any suggestions?

Yep... more information!.. same behavior when keyless remote is used?... IF SO, then you have a bad relay - door 'LOCK' relay.
