SOURCE: 1996 328i bmw sometimes loses power and won't pass smog test

Ok you will have to have it scanned. It probably has cylinder misfire codes and random cylnder misfires. You could need spark plugs and or coils. The scan will tell you exactly which cylinder is missing. That will cure your problem and remember to change your oil and filter right before you go in for the smog test. Also if the car hasn't been serviced in a while it would be a good idea to replace the air filter and fuel filter.

SOURCE: 1999 bmw 528i replaced battery and alternator

Replace your battery when its being tested there not testing it under a heavy enough load. A battery could have a dead cell in it and still show good on the charger. I've had that problem a few times.

SOURCE: Battery keeps dieing..jump start and runs for a few days and dies

Humm ...Didn't die before the accident? now dies? BMW has good mechanics, but could not find any problem???. I gota think that it is related to the rear ending, but how? I would look for loose connections, Battery Ground that might have been removed before welding.Battery terminals, Any primary connections that may not be making 100% contact . It's worth a try.Good Luck

98 ford escort batteries keep dying

First don't keep wasting your money changing batteries and parts that are not bad. Alternator is easy to test at the store. Either it works or it dont. Battery same thing. So if you have a volt meter you can put that on the battery and see the voltage drop if you have a drain. Question is are you in cold area. When It gets below 32 degrees your battery will freeze and lose some power. So if that's not it. Your car has something staying on. Have you installed anything into the car in awhile like a stero or alarm. Is there a glove box light staying on. Stuff like that will drain your battery. With the volt meter on the battery disconnect some fuses to the new stuff and see if the numbers stop dropping.

My 1990 Honda Civic battery keeps draining the alternator is running well between 13 and 14 when the battery got low it started to lose power while I was driving I replace battery in it was already down to...

Not sure I follow your story.
Have you checked the output of the alternator while it is on the engine, and is it between 13 and 14 volts ? Does the battery lose power while the engine is running or after you turn the engine off ?
Is the alternator output normal but not reaching the battery ?

My 1995 jeep Cherokee seems to be losing power and I don't know why or how. How do I check this with a voltmeter?

If you are talking about performance and engine power, you would need other gauges.

If you are talking about the battery not charging, or a battery drain you would use a Voltmeter for the Alternator output. The drain would be using an Ohmmeter with the battery disconnected.

The big 3 autoparts stores will test the battery and the charging system for you for free. Go to Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys and ask for a chargine system test. Diodes in the Alternator are like one way gates and if one is bad it could run down the battery.

NEW BATTERY BUT LOSSES CHARGE

Usually if if your alternator is good, once you had the engine running, disconnect the battery. If the car keeps on running then the alternator is good. You may also need to use a voltmeter to measure the voltages before and after starting the car. The voltage should increase once the engine is running. The alternator may be weak or your are draining power either through a gadget installed in a car or bad wiring that you may need to inspect your wiring.

So i got a new battery about a week ago since my car would lose power but would still run without any lights or anything working. it started up about 4 times after being jumped than half my clock...

if the vehicle would run a substantial period of time without lights and stuff on, then i can guarantee you 100% the alternator is getting bad, may not be all the way out, but its not far from it, and if you keep driving it like that, you will be buying another battery, because i bad alternator crushes batteries, just drains the life out of em... hope this helps you.

Battery keeps draining

if your battery died while driving and the car cut off while your driving,, your problem is from your alternator!!!,, on a normal working car, you can start, remove ther battery terminals and the car would still run cause the alternator will be powering the car. In your case the alternator isnt working and the car was working on battery power therefore when the battery went dead the car cut off.. Your alternator need \s to be charging between 13.5 and 14.2 volts.. as little as 10 volts will keep the vehicle running.. I'd suggest you have the alternator replaced.

2000 Dodge Ram cargo van trouble starting and once started will not keep running tried jumping battery and no change what should we try next?

Sounds like the alternator is bad (not charging). If your battery is good/charged it should run until the battery is drained. If the battery is bad/not charged the car will die as soon as the cables are taken off as there is not enough juice to run the ignition system. If the alternator is good (but battery bad) the car would still run as the alternator makes power to run the car but becasue the battery is dead/drained there is no power to start the car (hense needing the jump). Have the alternator/charging system tested
