Key Fobs 2000 Ford Explorer XLS

I bought a 2000 Explorer XLS for my two sons for Xmas. It does not have key fobs but does flash "Theft" on the dash when started. How do I know if I can add fobs or do I need to add some sort of module? I bough fobs on ebay but was unable to get the truck into program mode. Any help would be appreciated.

In your owners manual it will give you instructions on setting up your fobs, Worse scenario is you might have to take it to the dealer to make sure they match the original fob

SOURCE: 2002 montana program key fob

Key fobs tend to hold their code indefintely. The batteries in them are probably burnt. Open up one of the fobs and replace the battery (hearing aid type) then they should work fine. Good Luck!~

2008 Cadi CTS will not recognize key fobs at all. Will not start, unlock etc.

It sounds like your anti theft has kicked in. You should call the nearest GM dealer and see if they have a technician you can pay to have come to you and reprogram your keys and fobs with their scanners.

Fobs are not working on my 2010 ford explorer changed batteries and still dont work. what fuse relates to the fobs

Did you try programming the key fob? Your owners manual has this info. I don't know if programming will help or not? Just a thought.
fleet.ford.com should have your owners manual, if you don't have one,you can read it for free.
Also try owner.ford.com
has owners manual you can look at for free.

How do I bypass anti theft on 2004 Ford explorer

There is no reset button on an OEM system. Instead of trying to disarm the anti-theft, arm it, then start the car. Press the "Lock" button on the key fob, put the key in the ignition and see if that works.

1994 ford explorer limited anti-theft

Two tips:
* If your anti-theft system is sounding (horn honking/lights flashing)you press the panic button on your key fob to shut it off.

* If your anti-theft system is armed (but not triggered) it is disarmed when you unlock the door(s) using your unlock button on your keyfob, the key pad on the driver's door, or your key.

Hope help with this. Good luck (remember rated this).

Need to reset the key fob after replacing the battery

You should not have to reset the key fob after a battery replacement. The signal from the key fob stays the same and is programed to the reciever.
If the key fob needs to be reprogrammed then follow these steps.
1. Have all key fobs with you during programming.
2. Sit in the vehicle with all doors closed.
3. Lock all doors using the Lock/Unlock switch on the door.
4. Insert and withdraw the ignition key 7 to 9 times within 10 seconds (do not turn the key, just insert and withdraw).
5. The 4 way flasher indicator on the dash should flash once or twice.
6. Insert the ignition key and turn it on (key on, engine off).
7. Press any button on one remote and the 4 way flasher indicator on the dash should flash once.
8. If you have more key fobs to program use the Lock/Unlock button on the door to unlock the doors and then lock the doors.
9. Press any button on the next key fob and the 4 way flasher indicator on the dash should flash once.
10. Repeat if you have more key fobs. Only 5 can be programmed.
11. To exit, simply turn of the igniton and remove the ignition key.
12. Unlock the doors using the Lock/Unlock switch on the door and exit the vehicle.
13. Make sure the window is down when testing remotes in case you leave the keys inside.
14. Close all doors and test all remotes that were programmed.

Do not skip any steps or the process will not work.

If the 4 way flasher indicator does not work when inserting the key, you will need to start the process from the begining. If it still does not work the receiver may be your problem.

If the 4 way flasher indicator does not flash when pressing any button on the key fob then the key fob is the problem (dead battery or defective remote)

Yes, Fords have PATS system, which is what controlls your keyless entry. It is the computer for your key fobs and keyless entry. You might have tripped itby accident, and your only solution is to take it to a dealership or someone who has Fords reprogrammimg computer to have it reflashed.

Anti-theft

The key you have has a computer chip in it. If the car is broken in to and the thief tries to steal you car by jumping wilre. The car will not start. You need that key or one that is programmed for your car. I suggest that you do not lose this key as they are pretty expensive to replace. Around 140.00. I hope this helps.
