When I press the brake pedal I hear A hissing noise and the engine revs up, then tries to die when the brake pedal is released.
Hello;
Yoou most likely have a vacuum leak in the line from the booster to the intake. It could be a bad booster or check valve as well.
Thanks;

The check valve is located on the brake booster itself, made of plastic between the hose and metal brake booster, about 1 inch in diameter. if you are hearing a hissing sound when you depress the brake pedal, IT IS A LEAKING BRAKE BOOSTER, the inside vacuum seal of the booster has failed to seal correctly, listen to it while depressing pedal and you should hear the noise coming from inside the brake pedal area, under the instrument panel

Thanks for the quick response, all check the the hose for leaks. The check valve you speak of is located where?
Thanks
