I have a 93 olds cutlass supreme and the fuse blows every time we turn on the wipers but when we unplug the intermediate wipers it does not blow. Any suggestions?

HI, turn off everything ,make sure wiper switch is in off position, unplug the wire connector to the wiper motor(install new fuse) turn key on, turn wiper switch on to first position then proceed till you have went thru all settings , then turn key off , turn switch off , check fuse/ blown fuse>>replace switch/ good fuse/ plug wire connector to wiper motor , turn key on turn wiper switch on to first position then proceed till you have went thru all settings ,wiper motor not wiping>>check fuse/blown fuse>> replace wiper motor/good fuse/ wiper motor not working>>> get a exorcist performed on it !!! <:0}
To blow the fuse it has to be drawing a higher current. Are you using the correct AMP for the wipers? I would try lifting the wipers off the windscreen and see if the fuse still blow (less friction) if it still blows the problem is the motor could be on its way out or they mechanisms are "sticky" if they work fine then replace the blades and give the windscreen a good clean. You could (at some minimal risk) put a fuse in with +5 AMP higher than recommended.
The power distribution box in the engine compartment # 6 , 30 amp mini - fuse , front wiper motor , front wiper relay , front washer pump , FEM ( also # 7 , 25 amp mini - fuse , rear wiper etc. ) The owners manual shows to disconnect your battery cables before servicing anything in the PD BOX
your relay could be shorted which makes the fuse keep blowing
dis-connect wiper motor and replace fuse and try switching wiper motor on if fuse does not blow motor faulty and shorting out and causing fuse to blow.if still blows fuse must be a short in the wiring from wiper motor plug back to wiper motor switch.
Lets deal with the fan. Only two things can cause a fuse to pop. A short in the wiper motor. Unplug the connector on it. It the fuse does not blow now you need a wiper moter. If it still blows the positve wire going to the motor is touching medal somewhere. You will need to inspect the wire going from the fuse block to the wiper motor. . Also sounds like you have no power to the brake switch.. Another fuse issue or a broken wire somwhere before where you bypassed the switch
this sound like the wiper motor auto wiper parking is shorting out and so with ign turned on this causing fuse to blow ? if motor has a short wire to earth on exterior ? usually brown ? this is auto park cut or disconnect then ensure you have correct amp fuse and see if fuse blows? if yes then provided the elec plug connector for motor is in good condition ? may well be motor has a fault on armature to earth? hope this helps
