Have a 98 VW Passat and car sputters and loses power when at low speed. Took to dealer and pulled codes p1565 p1505 and p0304. Car didn't start only once but intermittently looses power. Help
P1505 Closed Throttle Position Does Not Close/Open Circuit
P1565 Idle Speed Control Throttle Position Lower Limit Not Obtained
P0304 Cylinder 4 misfire
The engine type you have could be helpful. Four cylinder gas/diesel or V6?
You could have a bad TPS (throttle position sensor) or the throttle cable could be sticking. If you know what to look for, remove the intake tube from the throttle body and see if the throttle plate will close completely. As for your misfire, how long has it been since it had a tune-up?
Go to you tube and see if they have a video of this problem , put in search box your problem and out you tube on the end and it will take you to the video you need

a very common fault is the switch, the calipers are not much better, they will be able to sort it for you but they are bad news for a modern car !!
SOURCE: P0303,p0304 cylinder 3 and 4 mistfire, Passat 1999 V6 like new
replace plugs and wires.if it still misfires.you have a bad coil.and the fuel injectors 3 and 4 could be dirty and stopped up.

dealer only ,might get away with a re programme of the chipped key ,worst case scenario is a new ECU
SOURCE: how do I replace the battery of a 2004 VW passat.
you can purchase an adapter for the cigarette lighter to prevent this, otherwise hook up another battery to the car while exchaning batt, use booster cables
SOURCE: 98 passat code # p1565
1998 passat these codes are generic platform 1565 speed control command switch is out of range
P0123 Throttle position sensor/switch"A" high input
P01425 EGI glow plug secondary failure
P01472 Electro drive fan 2 operational failure
P0123 for this it means TPS is basically diconnected, and po1425 glow plug secondary failure, Why all these codes if you attempt to start the vehicle and you disconnected the Throttle body then disregard code po123 po1565 that speed control you probable stalled out and if so disregard this code. Here is what I am trying to communicate to you clear the codes.theses are not true code of the condition of the vehicle. They cannot contridict each other. If you believe these are true then trouble shoot po1425 and make sure the TPS has no broken connection and is fully seated look in the male to female connection and the harness. concentrate only on 1425 that is the reson it wont start.
