Easy way out? I guess that would be to get rid of the car. Now, if you are looking for a fix for your drivability problem, you must first find out what is causing it. This process should BEGIN by scanning your onboard computer system for possible fault codes. Please note that transmission and body control faults can also cause engine drivability problems on your car so the ENTIRE NETWORK should be scanned. Please note that MOST generic OBD code readers CANNOT perform this function.

My 2008 cadillac dts dash lights seem to dim at will making it impossible to see the gauges at times.is there a fix for this?
adjust the dimmer switch, if NOT work try to repair clean it, with contacts cleaner or replace. However you must sure that light is o.k in the panel. before to replace. the dimmer switch

My cruise control will not engage. I can mechanically lift the brake petal with my foot and everything works perfectly; however with I release the upward pressure the cruise disengages.
adjust the brake light switch on the top of the pedal. Should have a screw and nut style adjustment. Make the button on the switch compress more on the bracket. Then Drive.

Why do my brake lights stays on my 08 caddillac dtsdts even when I'm not hitting the brakes?
If all three brake lights are on, I'd say the problem is in the switch by the brake pedal. Take the cover off below the steering wheel and inspect the brake pedal and the switch. It may be as easy as spraying some silicone lube on the actuator. Try to do a search on this forum for brake light switch.
