id not drive it or even run it with low oil pressure.. boom $3000 in to rat hole?
or did the engine stall. RPM goes to zero so does oil pressure.
all normal for a stall. did it stall????????
if not check fuses.
if did, diagnose stalling, ask !
Hello Tammy, Can you tell me a little history about the car before it stalled, such as you were driving and it stalled or was it sitting idling before it stalled. And something to check in the meantime is make sure the oil level is correct. VW, has a lot of issues with oiling. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you. Allen
CHECK OIL LEVEL FIRST.IF LOOKS OKAY HAVE OIL PRESSURE CHECKED IF OIL PRESSURE GOOD.YOUR OIL FILTER AND OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED AND OIL NOT TOO HEAVY OR THICK AND YOU ARE USING THE RIGHT OIL VISCOSITY.YOU COULD HAVE A FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SWITCH.IF CAR STALLING IN MOTION YOUR FUEL FILTER STOPPED UP OR FUEL PUMP GOING BAD.
When it stalls, I would check to see if it's getting spark. Also, check the inside of the distributor for any oil leaking inside. You may have a pick up coil in the distributor or a bad control module.
First you must find the engine oil pressure sensor, remove the sensor and repalce it with a gauge. Run the engine until hot and record the reading if the reading is between12 and 25 PSI replace the sensor, if the pressure continually drops as the engine warms up then you have a major issue, meaning there is serious engine wear and a rebuild is nesassary.
