2005 KIA Sportage Engine Warning Light and Misfire Problem

I have a 2006 Kia Sportage V6 2.7. I've had it for about 3 months and the Engine warning light comes on followed by misfiring. It usually occurrs when you put the accelerator to the floor quite hard, such as an overtake or picking up speed to join a motorway. The engine light usually goes off if you leave the car for a while and sometimes whilst still driving. I have taken it back to the dealership 4 times now, each time they say they can't find the fault. They have replaced some plugs and leads as the engine code said "pending misfire #3 and #5" however even after this it still happened. They say they have tried a fuel flush, tested fuel lines and the interior of the fuel tank , changed fuel filters etc. and have found no problems. They want to give the car back to me now as they think it is to do with fuel levels. Kia themselves are telling them some **** about it must be because the fuel tank is only quarter full and there being 2 fuels pumps. I've never heard of having to run a car on over half a tank before, it shouldn't happen at all. I don't want to take it back and then find it reoccurs, I just want to leave it withe them until they can say "we found this part was broken and we've replaced it!" no "seems to be ok doesn't seem to be misfiring think we've found it!"

Engine check light comes on - defect of a range of Sportages - manufacturer should repair it. Check the recalls on Kia Sportage. My vehicle had to get an entirely new engine. This is after the vehicle refused eventually to start.

Pending misfire could be attributed to a lot of things. My first guess is plugs and wires, but if they've been replaced that ends there. Fuel pump would be #2 guess; pumps don't need to be broke to start the computer into wildcat throwing codes mode and freaking the driver out. Third guess would be a vacuum leak or evap leak somewhere in the hoses to/from the air box. When problems like these arise with the engine, if you think what does an engine need, you'll solve the problem. The engine needs a correct combination of air and gas and the correct timing of compression and spark to ignite. If one of these is off, you have a nice light on your dash. It goes out for you because the car returns to normal while you're driving, which to me indicates something is about to fail in that system I just described, but works good enough intermittantly to throw the code and also erase it. Look for any loose or disconnected hoses inside the engine, should be a sticker on top of the hood inside that indicates position and placement if you find any.
Good Luck

My 2006 kia sportage had its 4wd warning light come on today, and the check engine light, then it just died while I was driving it.

you should take it for repair, this not a simple fix.Unless you have all the tools ,skill and knowledge it is cheaper to it fixed. the garage will have the tools and diagnostic equipment.

2006 kia rio misfire

Could be a weak coil on number 4 cyl.
Switch coils between 3 and 4 and see if the code now reads #3 misfire, then you will know you need a coil.
Maybe the check engine light will stay off after the switch.

Had front brakes changed on my 2005 kia sportage now the ads brake ligh and the regular brake light won't go off

Depending on how much brake work was done, either the wheel sensors have been damaged or were not properly reconnected. The regular brake warning light may be on because the ABS is disabled at the moment. Fixing the ABS problem may extinguish the standard warning light too. I suspect the brakes are working but not as an ABS-equipped system.
If you have one of the auto parts chain stores near you, take it to them for a free scan of yoru computer; the error code it finds may be more specific that the ABS warning light.

2005 Kia Sportage kills when release of gas pedal

Sounds like a faulty engine warning light and a problem with one of your vacuum hoses. This is difficult to find. Probable just an old cracked hose or loose connection. Propose this to your dealer. Just keep taking it back and tell them to check all of the vacuum hoses and the computer. Good Luck
