On the way home Thursday the transmission decided it wasn't going to go into 3rd gear, limped home and let it cool pulled the pan checked the govenor and the screen had a lot of build up on it ohm'ed it out and only got 2 ohm's res. replaced in agj. the bands new filter and fluid, put it thru it's paces kick down at fulol throttel everything worked great, this morning on the way to wook I notices early 1/32 shife after it warmed up and then back to no 2/3 shift, first and second are nice and tight. also noticed a little planetary whine now, could this be caused by the anti drain back valve in the cooling line ?

My maxima uses only Matic K fluid. & I think another dealer put the wrong one druing service but no way to prove it. But it's 100% your transmission. I've been complaing since i got my maxima in 05 brand new. within 5000 miles I was complaing its transmission. Now today I have 52000miles now they admit something is wrong Luckly i was under warranty. I've been informed by former mechanics if once dealer does not find anything the 1st time they call all the local dealers & give eachother a heads up no to waste time on that specific car.I had to push the service advisor to go for a test drive to prove my car was having problem.
Good luck man

just an idea, are the tourque converter bolts still there?
Testimonial: "Problem is still on-going because of the deep freeze. I will not have a chance to drop the trans until Fri evening. I will let you know what I found."

The Syncro is worn. Fluid will not help. I'm afraid it's time for a rebuild or another used transmission from a junkyard.
Do you mean upshifting starts way early? Going from 2nd to 3rd in other words?
Ireally don't know your transmission, but the alternator problem might've possibly spiked and hurt your shifting solenoids in the ******. don-ohio (:^)
