Brake lights will not go out which causes the battery to die

After driving the vehicle (doesn't matter how many miles or how long it's driven), and turned off, the brake lights will not go out. It is hard to tell if the brake lights have gone out during daylight hours. If the vehicle is left to sit for 8+ hours, the battery is dead. What is causing this???

Check the brake light switch, it is located on the shaft that goes to the brake pedal, You need to look up under the dash, they can come loose or malfunction.

SOURCE: Trac off light

Replace the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). $30 to $40 if you do it yourself or $70 to $95 if you have a service station do it. This will fix all of your problems related to the TRAC OFF light and transmission shifting into low gear.

What to look for? why is this electrical system malfuntioning?

Well that kind of sounds like a bad connection, but it was difficult understanding with no good punctuation... Have you checked the battery terminals? If not, do so, and have your alternator checked too. I've seen some really goofy stuff happen when some vehicles don't get enough power.

1998 expedition yesturday was low on fuel got gas drove with headlights on got 4 miles down road vehicle died thought was bad gas 3hrs later vehicle would run but abs light and brake light would flash

There is a problem in the electrics of the vehicle. First place to start is to check the alternator drive belt for condition and tension. Next place is the battery terminals and condition and tension . Third place is to have a load test done on the battery as it may have an internal short and drawing all the current from the alternator. In effect when you add power requirements ( park lights then brake lights then headlights) you are actually using more current than the alternator can supply to keep the engine system running.

Purchased focus sport 2006 model no service manual. Mileage 43,000 kms. Need to know service intervals either time/mileage perhaps a copy of the service schedule will suffice.

These maintenance intervals come from the maintenance interval calculator
at www.autozone.com, using a starting point of 25,800 miles (43000 km), and
assuming 1000 miles (1666 km) driven per month, and "severe driving conditions," which
are actually normal usage characteristics, such as frequent short trips, urban driving, waiting in traffic, driving in hot weather, trips under 16 km in cold weather, etc.

When the abs light appears, the brakes reset to regular brakes, with out the anti lock,If for sure the brake liners are good, and the rotors, then it is a bad sensor on one of the wheels,a scanner has to be hooked up to find the correct sensor,on witch wheel is the problem.

2003 VW Jetta TDI Check Engine Light Issue

Try disconnecting the battery (unhook on of the terminals) wait for like 15 mins, hook the terminal once again and start the car. I also own a 2003 Jetta and once my engine light would come on after 2 mins of driving. Disconnecting the battery is like resetting the computer and hopefully the sensor.

2005 Acura tl brake replacement

The Brembos that come on Type S/Manual models wear fast. I've changed them at 20,000 miles. They are expensive also.

Non-Type S/Manual models I have seen go 80,000 miles. The biggest factor on brake wear is how the vehicle is driven.

At 50,000 miles I would have them inspected. Depending on where you go, make sure you get an accurate measurement of both pads (inboard and outboard). 2mm is the service limit and about that time the indicators start making noise, but not always. Most indepent shops are going to sell you brake pads at 4mm. That's another 10,000 miles at least you could have driven on them.

Never replace just the brake pads, resurface or replace the rotors. The uneven surfaces of the rotor will cause your new pads to wear incorrectly and possibly cause brake noise. Most aftermarket pads will cause a squeel.
