Hello, This is a recent reoccurring problem. I go to start my 2000 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T and at first it take a little time to start up. But if I turn it off and try again, it will just keep cranking but not fully start. But is I wait 20 minutes without trying and then try again it starts back up. If this is a starter issue, where would the starter be located and is it an easy task to complete with simply a jack? Thank you for your time.

I just had the same problem and read on another post how to fix it. Unlock your car, open and close all the doors, and lock it manually with your key. It worked.

your have a bad starter relay look at owner manual for location and replace

You have a bad camshaft sensor. It's located at the back of the driver side valve cover. Takes 20 minutes to replace. I had exact problem and this solved it.
