My cavaliers fuel pump wont kick in when the key is turned on

I've never heard of a said fuel reset but their are fuel pump relays! Can you hear the fuel pump humming when ignition is turned on? If not Google fuel relay positions and feel the relays when keys turned on and you should feel a clock or something in relays also you can switch a cpl around to see if it fixes your problem!

Tap on the bottom center of the fuel tank while someone cranks the vehicle. If it starts you probably have a failed fuel pump assembly.

The original Chevy pump motor has a good life. Running the vehicle out of fuel, which will actually run the pump in a dry state can shorten the expected life span considerably. Gasoline is a petroleum product and actually lubricates the inside of the fuel pump. The more you run the vehicle low on fuel or out of fuel, the more damage will occur and the quicker the pump will fail. Try replacing the pump and follow the above procedures for a good performance of the pumps. Cavalier fuel pumps available here

from my experience with cavaliers the fuel pump will only pump until the lines are full of gas and it will not pump again till the gas starts being used, your fuel pump it working fine sounds like but to anser your question NO a bad fuel pump will not mess with your spark, you might want to check your crank sensor, and also check all your fuses and relays. you have a minor problem that is all.

Fuel pumps are also a common proble with the cavalier/sunfire. can you hear it running immediately after turning the key on (not trying to start)

you could have a bad ground on the fuel pump itself since fuel pumps work off a ground, you also may want to check if you have injector pulse.

Could be failed fuel pump. Disconnect fuel line at engine and turn over a couple times having something to catch gas in. If electric pump don't turn over engine, just turn key to run position for a few seconds. Maybe clogged fuel filter or faulty pump if no gas shows. Change fuel filter and try again. If none, change pump.

turn the key on, while having a buddy with the gas cap off listen for the fuel pump. If the fuel pump doesnt turn on than thats the problem. Try changing the relay first, if it were me I would bypass it first just to make sure. good luck

it sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump is letting the fuel bleed back into the tank
