Wiring diagram for 2004 toyota 4runner with jbl

Put in a new stereo yesterday and found that the gray wire on the factory harness is broke, also the illuminated dash below stereo not working because of this. I connected the gray to the constant yellow(only way I could make it work.) and the two reds and the blacks to see if it had power, no power. When I connect new unit to battery it works and their are no fuses blown. Am I wrong in thinking the ground wire is black? would like specific wiring diagram for 2004 4runner with JBL system; btw do have a metra amp bypass 70-8117 connected

It appears that red is a speaker connection and not power. The complete wiring diagram I'd in the link below.

There may be extra wires you don't need. The basic set of wires on the radio is 4 pairs of colored wires--one black-striped and one plain for each speaker. Yellow is usually accessory power, red is hot, and black is ground. Some additional wires may be one for a power antenna, one for an external amplifyer, and one for facelight (in case it will run on dimmer)
The car should have the following corresponding wires:
Radio 12v--- orange
Radio Ground--- black
Radio Ignition--- yellow
Radio Illumination--- brown
Dimmer--- gray
Power Antenna--- pink (if you have one)
LF Speaker +/- tan - grey
RF Speaker +/- lt green - dk green
LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow
RR Speaker +/- dk. blue- lt. blue

The car or radio could have additional connectors, such as for a subwoofer, CD changer, etc.

That stereo is now most likely dead. speaker wires are mostly green/black stripe, white/b s, grey/b s and violet/b s. ground is black and power are red and yellow.

I need to know the wire diagram for my 04 Silverado crew cab. Previous owner removed the original stereo and put a horrible after market stereo. Now I want to replace that with a after market stereo can...

use a test light and a battery. the black is ground, orange is constant and yellow is your turn on and off (ignition). then take a 9volt battery to check your speaker wires. front should be green and light green and gray and light gray. double check it has ben a while, rear is blue and light blue, a yellow and brown. you do not need any other wires in the harness unless you are using a power antenna or amp which you can use the yellow wire for ignition. double check with test light and 9volt battery. the 9volt battery will make the speaker pop noise, you then know you have a speaker when it makes that noise.

I a '83 camry, there are 2 seperate plugs that go into a factory radio.
One for Power/and front speakers, and the other for rear speakers.

Sounds as if you are missing part of the harness for the rear speakers (or it is shoved in the back of the dash unused by the previous install). If there is not an un-cut plug in the dash - your only course of action would be to run your own set of speaker wire to the rear.

See this picture... these are the plugs that should go into your factory radio....

Metra kit 71-1938 will go from your factory wiring directly into your factory radio.
