Trunk Latch not working

I recently shipped my car and when I did I turned the lock on the trunk latch. Now having relieved the car and unlocked the latch, the trunk does not open. I can open the gas cover by pushing the latch down like always, but pulling the trunk latch up does nothing and it can only be opened with the key in the key-hole on the trunk. Thoughts?

SOURCE: key wont open up trunk from the outside

alot of times when the key isnt used often the tumblers will corrode in the lock, try spraying some good penetrating oil in there, and work the key slow so you dont break it off

SOURCE: Trunk latch on 2002 Civic EX 4-Door won't close

My girlfriend's 2002 Civic LX 4-door had the same problem. Dvanvught is right; the problem lies with the truck latch cable. If you open the lid and look up at the latch, you will see where the cable comes from the release at the fuel door / trunk release lever inside. When that lever is pulled, it pulls a lever on the latch. The problem is that when you release the lever inside, the cable doesn't retract fully, holding the trunk latch in the open position. If you use your key to manually push the lever on the latch that is attached to the cable toward the cable itself (meaning, push the lever in the direction that will push the wire cable back into its housing), you'll likely find that the trunk lid will then latch. You could replace the cable which would be a bit of a pain considering how it's routed or try to work out a way to put in a return spring to keep pressure on the latch lever, automatically pulling the cable back into the housing.

Good luck!

Just started today I cant get the trunk open. The key doesn't seem to turn all the way and the trunk release leaver located next to driver seat also will not open it.

You may have jammed some material into the latch. A rag or cloth or even paper can cause sudden binding on the latch to the point it won't open. Find a partner to assist you to press down firmly onto the trunk lid to try to relieve excess pressure on that latch, while the other person tries to turn the key and/ or pull that lever.

If that does not work, try the opposite force (ie. pulling upward on the trunk lid) and doing the same. If bad enough, this may take a while, with effort. But be careful NOT to break off your key in the lock cylinder.

If this fails, try accessing the trunk from the rear seat (even removing it). You may even see the culprit from there as the material will be stuck, requiring firm pulling to get it out of that latch.

If, when you finally do get the trunk open, if it turns out it was NOT an obstruction, your lock mechanism may just be bound up. To free it spray liberally with penetrating oil such as PB Blaster. Allow to soak a bit, then repeatedly rotate the lock with the key. It will soon work like new!

How to unlock broken trunk latch for suzuki reno

(the key is dead? or the remote lever?) why not say>?
i know of only these tricks. (all cars not yours)
1: crawl true rear set , hole, behind seat.
2: if electric latch, hot wire it.
3: if cable latch. find a way to get to cable and yank the casing
hard, while person 2 tries to open the trunk.
4: drill out the key hole, then usiing a screw driver open the trunk.
5: drive to any lock shop smith. and ask em. its trivial.
A; they (smith) have working keys, or can make keys or can pick the lock
or failing all that do #4.

I accidentally pulled the interior trunk release of 2008 volkswag

Try a screw driver, and release the trunk release at the same time and unsnap the latch, the latch thinks it is closed, because the latch never opened back up to allow the striker to go in it and trigger the latch to close, the latch is in closed mode, you will have to manually unlatch the latch sort of speak.

I have a 2001 Buick Lesabre, and my trunk will not stay closed. I don't know if it is my trunk latch or what. how can I fix this prolem?

either the latch is broken, repair parts will be needed, or the catch loosened and needs adjusting. does the trunk close with a motor? have you tried unlocking the trunk? maybe the latch is in the locked position or it's stuck in the latch position. if stuck, turn the key to unlock and pry with a screwdriver
