2002 f250 brake problem

2002 f250 xlt, 7.3 diesel, 4x4. on my way home from work (normal driving conditions) went to stop at a red light and could only get about half the normal braking effort, and the brake pedal slowy crept to the floor while stopping. additional stops produced the same result and the brake pedal seemed slow to recover when pressure was released. i know the pads/rotors are in good condition. could not find any leaks, brake reservior is full of fluid. please help. thanks in advance, william.

My transmission gage went to hot & i noticed trans fluid dripping on my way home. truck still shifts ok. 2002 ford f-250 diesel 4x4

The most common place to leak is the rear seal. You will have to put your eyes on it though. Make sure to fix the leak, and refill the system with the correct fluid before driving it again, because transmissions are expensive!

I am purchasing a 2002 F250 XLT Quad cab 7.3 diesel 4x4 with 115K. It was in to the dealer at 100k for maintenance, but I am wondering what maint. It may now need asde from lube?

A truck or car needs oil changes, spark plugs, tires, etc. no matter how many thousands of miles it has on it. In fact over 100k units need more looking after because items like motor supports, etc. that are not a problelm at 50k might be at 115k.

I you would like further help let me know.

Do I have to remove A/C parts to get at glow plugs

Yes you can remove the valve cover without touching the a/c. It's a tight fit but it can be done. Good luck.

2002 f250 transfer case that doesnt shift into 4x4

Hello , chances are the 4x4 transfer motor/solenoid on the case either has no power , or has failed. I removed mine from my 2004 Explorer , dis-assembled and replaced the nylor washer and re-assembled and she works.

Instrument cluster not working and truck wont go

The 2002 F-250 PStroke 4x4 had the instument lamps poping the fuse intermittently .
Turned out to be a wire getting pinched btween the emergency brake lever and the release stop .
Had to remove the keft kick panel and there was a yellow wire coming from the lower harness up toward the dash . the wire was pinched /hung up in the emergency brake mechanism . Good Luck

Vacuum pump wiring

I have 84 & 85 Ford F250 4X4 w/ 6.9 diesel and they use a belt driven vacuum mounted below the alternator driven by a short belt from the alternator.

Have never seen an OEM electric vacuum pump on any Ford F250 w/ 6.9 diesel and early 7.3 non powerstroke.

This must be an after market unit, so look for marking or ID on it to find who made it.

Best guess on wiring, unit may be 2 speed, with black being common or ground and red for power.
