Speedometer quit working

abs light on ? abs controls the speedo (odometer).... dont know what you mean by clocks.... do you mean the rev counter and gauges ??

This is a result of either a bad solder job at the factory or just bad solder. You can remove your gage cluster and remove and resolder the joints at the back of the 2 indicators. there are several sites on the internet that have specific instructions.

Can be loose speedo wiring connectors under instrument panel or its issue with speed sensor on transmission.

Hi Ken You seem to have two faults with your vehicle. One will be a speed sensor and the other possibly a bad connection. Take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan and pin point the problems (which the scan will do) and then sort them out. Regards John

you may need to replace the instrument cluster.

its likely a dry solder joint on the circuit board behind the cluster but unless you can repair it yourself its expensive to get fixed so better to just swap from a breaker.

try to change the speed sensor

Mine went blank after condensation inside windshield dripped behind the dash (sunroof drain problem). After a few months, in really dry winter weather, digital display time, gears, odometer came back. I assume water inside dash just needed time to evaporate. Sure beats $1000 to replace unit inside dash!

More than likely your lead gear for your odometer is spinning on the shaft and not advancing the odometer or tripometer. You will need to remove the speedometer from the cluster to verify. once the speedometer is removed you will find a metal/gray colored gear next to the odometer digits. Take a small flat tip screw driver while holding the odometer digits in place with your finger, try and spin the gear. If the gear spins this is your problem.
