2 months ago my 2000 chev tracker would spiratically tick when i started the vehicle. 2 weeks ago it started ticking on every start up, do you think its the lifters and if so deos the vehicle have adjusting lifters or do i have to have new lifters put in.
If its a ticking when you start from cold and goes away soon after start as the engine warms up it is most likely a crack in your exhaust manifold ( you may call it a header in the us) as it is getting the hot exhaust straight from the cylinder it heats up very quickly and closes the crack stopping the ticking. you should be able to get a nechanic to run a weld along the crack easily enough depending on where it is.
New lifters?,,,,,,an over haul could help.....but it takes alot of money.....
does it sound like almost a "diesel engine"
you know.....there are products that can help release lifters that have become sticky or noisy.......
alot of brands and chemystries but "RISLONE" could help....
