Speedometer and odometer stoped working

Hello BDG, The answer is no. If the VSS fails on your 97 Chevy, you will lose both speedometer and odometer functions. If your speedo is still working and your odometer is not, you have a broke odometer. This is a common failure with a lot of the older vehicles that were fitted with the mechanical odometer registers. abs light on ? abs controls the speedo (odometer).... dont know what you mean by clocks.... do you mean the rev counter and gauges ??

You need to remove the instrument cluster and have the speedometer module repaired.

I have just done some work on my ford escourt 75D
van the speedo was working perfectly fine & now its stoped working what could I have done to stop it working.

I'm gonna suggest taking the vehicle to a ASE Certified Transmission Repair Shop. The reason behind this you have to do a lot of work to determine whether its the cable or odometer. If both of them check out the last piece of the puzzle is the speedogear WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT OF THE TRANSMISSION. It might make sense to have then do this job.

Dear Sir/Madam, The problem is electrical. The speedometer/odometer box needs to be removed from behind the steering wheel (or after removing the steering wheel)...The bulbfuses behind the panel need to be changed and new electrical connections made for the speedometer/odometer to work.

Hello TDK.
If the speedometer is working and not the odometer the problem is in the speedometer housing and to repair will need replacement.
An internal gear is broken and not allowing the transfer of rotation from the speedometer through to the odometer.
I had a 83 Grand Prix. Beautiful car! Wish I had a new one.

Check on your transmission. The speedometer cable probably is bad or fell out.
