on the trans, its underneath the battery, in-line with the battery clamp toward the front of the car.
SOURCE: transmission input speed sensor location
It is located on the front of the transmission. you will see 2 of them one on the left under small transmission lines it is the input then to the right behind the radiator overflow there is the other one. Easiest way to change them is with a 1" deep well socket
SOURCE: where on the transmission is the speed sensor
If you remove the air filter box, the Input shaft speed sensor can be seen on the top of the transmission, beneath the cable shift linkage. You'll have to remove some brackets to move some electrical cables and the like out of the way, but it's a pretty straight forward remove/install. The output sensor is also on the top of the transaxle, but further back towards the firewall. To differentiate between the two: the input shaft electrical plugs in vertically, the output shaft electrical plugs in horizontally. BE SURE to completely clean all dirt/sand/debris away from the sensors before removing them.

Depending on what transfer case model you have, some have one sensor and some have 2.They will both be on the back of the transfer case. They will be on the tail shaft of the transfer case. The one with 2 sensors has one on the left and one on the right.Hope this helps.Good luck.
