The fuel pump gets power from the oil pressure switch once the engine is started. So if oil pressure drops below 5 psi the engine should stop.
Other than a special socket to fit the oil pressure switch, its not too difficult to change.

SOURCE: lost all oil pressure no oil getting to top of engine

mileage?..over heated? oil to top is function of oil pump and oil passageways ..bad worn lower engine (crankshaft/bearings)......oil pump push rod..under distributor driven gear down into block to oil pump in oil pan..clogged passages/oil filter/oil filter bypass...... do a oil pressure test while cranking from port on side of block low and determine if bottom end has the pressure first

SOURCE: 1991 chevy S10 blazer fluctuating oil pressure

I assume from the year it has high mileage. With mileage comes wear in these engine's bearings allowing oil pressure to drop because of the excess clearance between cam and bearings, also the crank and bearings. When the engine is hot and idling the oil is thinner and goes by the bearings quicker. If you have good oil pressure while driving, I'd leave it alone, maybe use a thicker oil or some lucas additive. My 89 does the same thing sometimes in the summer, but don't remember it doing it this summer. I use Mobil-1 and an AC Delco filter.

Oil Pressure Loss

By the sound of it you are still driving the vehicle and it hasnt destroyed itself so I would guess that the oil pressure sensor is failing.

2.8l v6 in a s10 blazer. no head gasket problems thus far. wondering why my oil pressure gauge fluxuates? minor rpm change while oil pres guage does its thing why?

Oil pressure always changes with rpm.
At idle you should have around 10 psi, and it should max out at high rpm around 50 psi or so.
You not only can't have as much pressure at idle, but you don't need it either.

Is there a reset button on this fuel pump

CHEVY DOESN'T USE A FUEL PUMP RESET/CUTOFF SWITCH, FORDS USE THIS FEATURE, ON A CHEVY IT IS DONE WITH THE OIL PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH, SO IF U LOOSE OIL PRESSURE THE FUEL PUMP CUTS OFF, THIS OIL PRESSURE FUEL PUMP CUTOFF SWITCH AND IT'S WIRING ARE NEAR THE OIL FUILTER UNDER THE TRUCK.

My 1990 S 10 blazer is having problems with the oil pressure. it will not keep the pressure up on it I have change the sensor and it still goes down causing the motor to shut off

First check the oil pressure with a gauge screwed directly into the hole where the sensor is screwed in. If it is good than change the fuel pump cut off switch, this is the one that turns the fuel pump off in the event of an accident. If the oil pressure is indeed low you need to look at the mileage and service record of the car, maybe an oil pump replacement would help, but if engine wear is the culprit an overhaul will be the only cure.

1985 conrvette

poss. is fuel pressure reg. problem. put a guage on the test port and check press. should be above 35psi. see if it stays running when you spray choke cleaner in the pcv valve steadily while starting. if the engine stays running after a few seconds of running on choke cleaner then probably a bad fuel pump relay cause the oil pressure switch will keep the pump on without the relay when it has good oil pressure.
let me know if ya can do this or if it helps.
