I am having some problems sourcing a part for my Mini One. Someone has drove past my parked car and smashed my mirror glass off, which unfortunately has broken the clips of the mirror backing meaning the new glass that would usually be stuck to the original smashed backing cannot clip on the the wing mirror housing. I cannot seem to source the mirror backing that clips in to the housing anywhere. Could you suggest where i would be able to find this or how I can get round about this problem? Most car breakers yards will have one,mirror included,an extra couple of quid and they will fit it for you. A lot cheaper than going to a dealer.

TO FIT A NEW MIRROR FIRST CONNECT THE WIRING PLUGS THEN ENSURE THE FRICTION PIN ON THE BACK OF MIRROR ENGAGES IN THE SLOT (OUTER EDGE OF MIRROR) PRESS FIRMLY AT THE CENTRE OF THE MIRROR TO ENGAGE THE RETAINING CLIP....IF YOU NEED TO REMOVE MIRROR INSERT A FLAT TOOL BEHIND THE LOWER EDGE AND LEVER IT FROM THE CLIPS.. the inner cover (the one on your side) goes off by pushing it upwards , then ull find 3 screws, 8 or 9 mm, take the off, unplug the electrical connection and the old mirror should come off fairly easy, replace, redo the invert process

You should be able to replace the glass, but I believe it is glued in place. You should be able to tell as you remove the old pieces. It is a special white glue.
I was able to get a great price for the whole mirror on ebay. even the ones with signals and heated.
