199 Toyota Corolla chuggy in low gear when trying to accelerate

Lately when I am in low gear, 2nd and 3rd mainly and at low speed and I accelerate, the car hesitates or flutters/chugs, I ease off on gas and it apply slowly and it takes. A bit chuggy, At normal speed it appears to drive ok. It idles over ok as well and it has not died on me. I was thinking a fuel/Air filter might be the issue but looking advice

SOURCE: lurching at low speed take off

I would start by cleaning the inside of the Mass Air Flow sensor, dirt gets on the sensor element from the air going through and causes these kinds of problems, a company called CRC makes the spray cleaner for MAF's, any good auto parts store will have it, the MAF is located in the air intake hose to the engine. Another thing to check is the throttle valve and air bypass idle speed control valve for sludge, use the following procedure I have written to perform this.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: car dies when stopping or slowing down, hesitates on acceleration

check for a vacuum leak, you could possibly hear a whistle under the hood,or you can spray starter fluid near the intake manifold where the suspect leak could be and if the engine accelerates it has an vacuum leak, try the simple things first, can also be a clogged PCV valve,it is in the valve cover somewhere and it will have a rather large rubber hose going to the intake manifold

Try changing out your distributer cap and rotor button. Let me know if that solves your problem.

I have a 1995 Corolla 1.6 GLE Fuel Injection.Problem is low compression when changing from 1st to 2nd and 3rd gears (low power) but after 100 kph it seems normal. What could the problem be

-Low compression is always lost power.
there are few things cause this.
-Worn out piston ring.
-Worn out valves (Not seat properly tight)

Good luck

Toyota corolla problems

After checking the easy stuff first like low oil level, if it is high RPM(revs) & shifts hard(lurch when it does shift) then I am thinking the transmission filter & oil need to be changed. The transmission filter acts as a suction screen on an automatic transmission & as it collects contaminants to protect the inner workings of the transmission, it becomes plugged which greatly affects the ability to shift especially the high gears at faster acceleration.

My car doesnt accelerate like it should it goes slow til after i hit 30ph then it picks up my car used to have get up and go its a 2000 toyota corolla ce what do i do..

Is it automatic? Maybe the car is starting off in 2nd gear? Try shifting it manually, starting in Low, and then progressively shifting to 2nd, and then to Drive. If it now accelerates normally, there could be a shift solenoid problem in the transmission. Verify that your transmission fluid level is correct. If it is, and the problem persists, have it professionally diagnosed. Not much that a DIYer can do with an automatic, unfortunately.
