Ls400 fan pulley bearing, have pressed out old one successfully, but not able to find bearing

Cannot purchase radiator fan bracket assembly bearing for 1995 Lexus Ls400 anywhere, not available through bearing agents...what's with this?

    Have you resolved your problem? Can you list a part number also. Ask around if there's interchangeable parts, you never know your luck. Good luck

Water Pump leaks from the front end of the Wagon.

  1. Determine the Reason for Water Pump Failure
    • 1 Repair a water pump by checking your car for a failure in the bearings. You can test for bearing failure by seeing if there is any play in the shaft that is connected to the electrical fan blades, as well as the drive pulley to the pump itself.
    • 2 If you notice any free play in the shaft or the pulley, you will need to take the pump apart and replace the bearings.


    • 3 Determine if the water pump failure is due to a leak in the casing. Examine the water pump housing for leaking or water stains in the drainage hole next to the pulley.
    • 4 If water is dripping from this hole, then the seals inside the pump need to replaced in order to repair the pump.
    Remove the Water Pump for Repair
    • 5 Allow the engine to cool completely before removing any part of the cooling system. Never open a radiator cap or plug while the engine is still warm.
    • 6 Disconnect the car battery. This will prevent the electrical fan from turning on while you are under the hood.
    • 7 Drain the radiator of all fluid and disconnect the radiator hoses. Collect the fluid with a plastic container and keep it in a safe place until you are ready to put it back into the radiator.
    • 8 Remove the fan assembly. This will include the shroud, the fan and the fan belt. Disconnect the electrical leads for the fan.
    • 9 Remove the pulley for the fan belt as well in order to have access to the water pump.
    • 10 Use a socket set to remove the water pump from its engine mount.
    • 11 Open the housing for the water pump and replace the seals or bearing as necessary. Some auto parts stores carry repair kits that have both the seals and bearings for specific types of water pumps.
    • 12 Reassemble the cooling system by replacing the water pump, pulley, fan belt, fan assembly and radiator hoses. Refill the radiator with the fluid.
    • 13 Start the engine to see if the water pump repair was successful. Check for leaks before you take the car out on the road.

My fan is not moving when i start my engine. It's the fan near the radiator?

Is the belt that goes to the fan pulley assembly loose or missing? Tighten or supply a belt.

If a belt is present and tight, is the pulley rotating with the belt or stationary? If stationary, then the fan pulley assembly bearing is defective.

  1. Drain the cooling system.
CAUTION When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by the ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
  1. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water pump.
  2. Remove the drive belt, fan, fan spacer, fan shroud, if so equipped, and water pump pulley.
  3. Remove the alternator pivot arm from the pump.
  4. Disconnect the heater hose at the water pump.
  5. Remove the water pump.
  6. Before installing the old water pump, clean the gasket mounting surfaces on the pump and on the cylinder block. If a new water pump is being installed, remove the heater hose fitting from the old pump and install it on the new one. Coat the new gaskets with sealer on both sides and install the water pump in the reverse order of removal. Torque the mounting bolts to 14-18 ft. lbs.

  3. Disconnect the lower radiator hose, heater hose and by-pass hose at the water pump. Remove the drive belts, fan, fan spacer and pulley. Remove the fan shroud, if so equipped.
  4. Loosen the alternator pivot bolt and the bolt attaching the alternator adjusting arm to the water pump. Remove the power steering pump bracket from the water pump and position it out of the way.
  5. If necessary, remove the air conditioner compressor and bracket. The refrigerant lines should remain connected.
  6. Remove the bolts securing the water pump to the timing chain cover and remove the water pump.
  7. Thoroughly clean the mounting surfaces of all gasket material.
  8. Install the water pump in the reverse order of removal, using a new gasket. Torque the bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs. in the sequence shown.

  6. Remove the compressor and bracket and lay it aside. DO NOT disconnect the refrigerant lines!
  7. Remove the power steering pump and brackets. Lay it aside. DO NOT disconnect the fluid lines!
  8. Disconnect the heater hose and lower radiator hose from the pump.
  9. Remove the bolts securing the water pump to the engine and lift off the water pump.
  10. Clean all gasket mounting surfaces thoroughly.
To install:
  1. Install the water pump in the reverse order of removal, using a new gasket coated with sealer. Torque the bolts to 12-18 ft. lbs.
  2. Install all remaining parts in reverse order. Fill the cooling system, start the engine and check for leaks.

Radiator - Removal & Installation
  1. Drain the engine cooling system.
  2. Remove the upper radiator sight shield.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
  4. Remove the six bolts and the two radiator upper support brackets.
  5. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  6. Remove the bolt and position the receiver drier aside.
  7. Disconnect the dual flow coolant valve electrical connector and the A/C line from the fan shroud.
  8. 3.0L engines only:
    Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor and the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connectors.
  9. Remove the bolts.
  10. Remove the bracket.
  11. 3.9L engines only:
    Remove the bolt and position the electric water pump aside.
  12. Disconnect the high pressure cooling fan bracket and line.
  13. Inspect the seal and install a new seal if necessary.
  14. Disconnect the return hose from the cooling fan and shroud.
  15. Separate the return hose from the fan shroud and position aside.
  16. Remove the two bolts and the fan shroud assembly.
  17. Remove the A/C condenser.
  18. Remove the two bolts and position the multi-cooler assembly aside.
  19. Remove the bolts and the condenser support brackets.
  20. Remove the radiator.

To install:
  1. Install the following:

    Radiator Condenser support brackets Multi-cooler assembly A/C condenser Fan shroud assembly
  2. Connect the return hose to the fan shroud
  3. Connect the high pressure cooling fan bracket and line.
  4. 3.9L engines only:
    Replace the bolt and position the electric water pump aside.
  5. 3.0L engines only:
    Connect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor and the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connectors.
  6. Replace the following
    The upper radiator sight shield. The air cleaner outlet tube. The six bolts and the two radiator upper support brackets. The upper radiator hose. The bolt and position the receiver drier aside.

2006 dodge dakota water pump replacement instructions 3.7L

The water pump can be removed and installed without discharging the air conditioning system (if equipped).

  1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
  2. Drain cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling found under Cooling System, Service and Repair.
  3. Do not waste reusable coolant. If solution is clean, drain coolant into a clean container for reuse. WARNING: CONSTANT TENSION HOSE CLAMPS ARE USED ON MOST COOLING SYSTEM HOSES. WHEN REMOVING OR INSTALLING, USE ONLY TOOLS DESIGNED FOR SERVICING THIS TYPE OF CLAMP, SUCH AS SPECIAL CLAMP TOOL (NUMBER 6094). SNAP-ON CLAMP TOOL (NUMBER HPC-20) MAY BE USED FOR LARGER CLAMPS. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN SERVICING CONSTANT TENSION CLAMPS. CAUTION: A number or letter is stamped into the tongue of constant tension clamps. If replacement is necessary, use only an original equipment clamp with matching number or letter.
  4. Remove upper radiator hose clamp and hose at radiator.
  5. The thermal viscous fan drive is attached (threaded) to the water pump hub shaft. Remove fan/viscous fan drive assembly from water pump by turning mounting nut counterclockwise as viewed from front. Threads on viscous fan drive are RIGHT HAND. A Snap-On 36 MM Fan Wrench (number SP346 from Snap-On Cummins Diesel Tool Set number 2017DSP) can be used. Place a bar or screwdriver between water pump pulley bolts to prevent pulley from rotating. Do not attempt to remove fan/viscous fan drive assembly from vehicle at this time.
  6. 6. If water pump is being replaced, do not unbolt fan blade assembly from thermal viscous fan drive.
  7. Remove fan shroud attaching hardware (two bolts at bottom-two clips at top).
  8. Remove fan shroud and fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly from vehicle as a complete unit.
  9. After removing fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly, do not place thermal viscous fan drive in horizontal position. If stored horizontally, silicone fluid in viscous fan drive could drain into its bearing assembly and contaminate lubricant.
  10. Do not remove water pump pulley bolts at this time.
  11. Remove accessory drive belt as follows: The drive belt is equipped with a spring loaded automatic tensioner. Relax tension from belt by rotating tensioner clockwise (as viewed from front). When all belt tension has been relaxed, remove accessory drive belt.
  12. 12. Remove four water pump pulley-to-water pump hub bolts and remove pulley from vehicle.
  13. Remove lower radiator hose clamp and remove lower hose at water pump.
  14. Remove heater hose clamp and heater hose from heater hose coolant return tube.
  15. Loosen heater hose coolant return tube mounting bolt and remove tube from water pump. Discard the old tube O-ring.
  16. Remove seven water pump mounting bolts.
  17. Loosen clamp at water pump end of bypass hose. Slip bypass hose from water pump while removing pump from vehicle. Discard old gasket. CAUTION: Do not pry water pump at timing chain case/cover. The machined surfaces may be damaged resulting in leaks.

INSTALLATION

  1. Clean gasket mating surfaces.
  2. Using a new gasket, install water pump to engine as follows: Guide water pump nipple into bypass hose as pump is being installed. Install water pump bolts. Tighten water pump mounting bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque.
  3. Position bypass hose clamp to bypass hose.
  4. Spin water pump to be sure that pump impeller does not rub against timing chain case/cover.
  5. Install a new O-ring to the heater hose coolant return tube. Coat the new O-ring with antifreeze before installation.
  6. Install coolant return tube and its mounting bolt to engine. Be sure the slot in tube bracket is bottomed to mounting bolt. This will properly position return tube.
  7. Connect radiator lower hose to water pump.
  8. Connect heater hose and hose clamp to coolant return tube.
  9. Install water pump pulley. Tighten bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque. Place a bar or screwdriver between water pump pulley bolts to prevent pulley from rotating.
  10. Relax tension from belt tensioner. Install accessory drive belt.
  11. CAUTION: When installing the serpentine accessory drive belt, the belt must be routed correctly. If not, engine may overheat due to water pump rotating in wrong direction. Refer to Illustration above for correct belt routing. The correct belt with correct length must be used.
  12. Position fan shroud and fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly to vehicle as a complete unit.
  13. Install fan shroud.
  14. Install fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly to water pump shaft.
  15. Fill cooling system.
  16. Connect battery negative cable.
  17. Start and warm the engine. Check for leaks.

MY 2001 TAHOE FAILED THE SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE THE "IDLER" ARM HAS A "FAIR AMOUNT OF PLAY. IS THEIR ANYTHING I CAN DO SHORT OF REPLACING THE ENTIRE IDLER ARM?

you will need to remove the alternator to replace the idler arm pulley
Disconnect the negative, then the positive battery cables.
Remove the battery from the vehicle.
Remove the battery tray using the following procedure:
Remove the four battery tray bolts.
Remove the battery tray from the vehicle.
Remove the serpentine drive belt.
Remove the cooling fan assembly using the following procedure:
Remove the wishbone-shaped engine mount strut by removing the bolts and nuts at the engine mount bracket and on the upper radiator support.
Remove the strut from the vehicle.
Disconnect the cooling fan harness from the engine wiring harness.
Reposition the wiring harness at the upper radiator support.
Remove the cooling fan shroud bolts.
Remove the right side radiator bracket.
Remove the cooling fan shroud with the electric cooling fan motors and fans as an assembly.
Remove the thermostat housing and the radiator hose using the following procedure.
Partially drain the engine coolant.
Use hose clamp pliers to remove the radiator hose clamp to the water inlet housing and disconnect the radiator hose.
Use hose clamp pliers to remove the heater hose clamp to the water inlet housing and disconnect the heater hose from the water inlet housing.
Use hose clamp pliers to remove the surge tank inlet hose clamp from the water inlet housing and disconnect the surge tank hose from the water inlet housing.
Remove the water inlet housing bolts and remove the water inlet housing.
Remove the outboard generator bolt and loosen the inboard bolt.
Remove the idler pulley bolt and idler pulley.
Unplug the electrical connector from the alternator.
Pull back the protective boot from the alternator "BAT" terminal, remove the nut and disconnect the heavy "BAT" wire from the alternator terminal stud.
Remove the alternator from the vehicle.
To Install:
Position the alternator to the engine.
Plug in the electrical connectors and install the heavy "BAT" wire to the alternator terminal stud. Tighten the nut to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm). Press the protective boot back in place over the stud terminal and nut assembly.
Install the outboard alternator bolt into the alternator housing.
Install the inboard alternator bolt and then finger-tighten the outboard bolt.
Install the idler pulley and idler pulley bolt.
Tighten the bolts in the following torque sequence:
Tighten the idler pulley bolt to 37 ft lbs. (50 Nm).
Tighten the alternator bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
Install the water inlet and thermostat housing and the radiator hose, observing the following:
Inspect and clean the mating surfaces on the thermostat cover and its mounting surface on the engine.
Use RTV Sealer GM #1052366 or equivalent on the mounting bolts since the threaded openings are open to the cooling system and the torque requirement is low.
Install the water inlet and thermostat housing and tighten the bolts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the water inlet housing.
Connect the heater hose to the water inlet housing.
Connect the radiator hose to the water inlet housing.
Install the cooling fan assembly and tighten the radiator bracket bolts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm). Plug in the wiring harness at the upper radiator support. Plug in the cooling fan wiring harness to the engine wiring harness.
Install the engine mount strut bracket to the upper radiator support first, insert the through bolt. Attach the engine side of the strut to the engine mount strut bracket on the engine and install the through bolt. Thread the nuts on the through bolts and tighten to 35 ft. lbs. (48 Nm).
Install the battery tray and tighten the bolts to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
Install the battery.
Install the serpentine drive belt.
Connect the positive, then the negative battery cables.

Want to replace the radiator on my 1997 ford thunderbird

Radiator Aluminum Core, Crossflow — 3.8L (Base) and 4.6L Engines
Removal
  1. Drain engine cooling system as described. Disconnect upper radiator hose (8260) and lower radiator hose (8286) and radiator overflow hose (8075) from the radiator (8005). Disconnect the transmission oil cooler inlet and outlet lines from the radiator.
  1. Remove cooling fan motor,fan blade (8600) and fan shroud (8146) assembly as described.
  1. Remove radiator upper bracket retaining bolts and remove bracket. Lift radiator from vehicle.
Installation
  1. Position the radiator into the vehicle. Install upper brackets and tighten bolts securely.
  1. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines to the transmission oil cooler fittings.
  1. Install cooling fan motor, fan blade and fan shroud assembly as described.
Engine Cooling Fan Motor, Fan Blade and Fan Shroud Assembly, Electrical Removal
  1. Disconnect (pull apart) the male-female cooling fan motor wiring connector at the side of the fan shroud (8146). Remove the male terminal connector retaining clip from the fan shroud mounting tab.
  1. Remove two fan shroud upper retaining bolts at the radiator tanks.
  1. Lift cooling fan motor/fan blade (8600)/fan shroud assembly past radiator (8005), disengaging fan shroud from two lower retaining clips.
Installation
  1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
  1. Tighten fan shroud retaining bolts to 5.2-7.2 Nm (46-63 lb-in).

    Replace water pump 02 sportage

    I'm going to assume you have the 4WD model..here are the instructions for removal and install:

    1. Drain the cooling system.
    2. Remove or disconnect the following:

      Negative battery cable Lower splash shield Upper and lower radiator hoses Coolant reservoir tank hose Fresh air duct Fan and shroud Loosen the alternator mounting and adjusting bolts Alternator belt Fan pulley and bracket Upper and lower timing belt covers and turn the crankshaft until No. 1 cylinder is at Top Dead Center (TDC). Loosen the tensioner lockbolt and pry the tensioner away from the belt Timing belt Loosen the tensioner bolt Water pump Tensioners from the water pump
    To Install:
    1. Clean the surface of any old gasket material.
    2. Install or connect the following:

      Tensioners on the water pump Water pump and gasket. Torque the bolts to 19 ft. lbs. 25 Nm). Timing belt Loosen the tensioner lockbolt and allow the tensioner to rest against the belt. Torque the tensioner lockbolt to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm). Upper and lower timing belt covers Fan bracket assembly and fan pulley Drive belt Cooling fan and shroud Position the radiator and torque the bracket bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Torque the shroud bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) and torque the alternator adjusting and mounting bolts Position the fresh air duct over the radiator and tighten the retaining bolt 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) Radiator hoses and tighten the clamps Lower splash shield Negative battery cable
    3. Fill the cooling system.
    4. Start the vehicle and bring the engine to operating temperature. Check for leaks and repair if necessary.

    Replacing a Tensioner Pulley on 1994 F 350

    Release belt tension and remove belt. You will need a 1/2" drive breaker bar or ratchet to release tensioner. Be sure to note routing of belt on pulleys for reinstallation in case the diagram decal is gone. Remove the mounting bolt and remove tensioner. Note that there is a locating pin on the back that must engage the hole in the mounting bracket. Line up the locating pin on the new tensioner with the hole in the mounting bracket. Install the tensioner mounting bolt, making sure the locating pin stays lined up. Torque to specs and reinstall the belt according to the diagram on the hood or fan shroud. Be sure all grooves of belt line up in pulleys to avoid damage. If it is just the pulley or bearing that's bad, you can sometimes purchase these separately and use the old tensioner assembly.

    Replace the radiator

    Removal and Installation
    On all engines
    1. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling And Bleeding in this section.
    1. Remove the upper radiator sight shield.

    On 3.0L engines

    1. Remove the bracket.

      1. Remove the bracket.
      1. Disconnect the high pressure cooling fan bracket and line.
      1. Using the appropriate special tool, install a new O-ring on the power steering pressure hose fitting.
      1. Separate the return hose from the fan shroud and position aside.
      1. Remove the two bolts and position the fan shroud assembly.
      1. Disconnect the return hose from the cooling fan and shroud and remove the cooling fan and shroud assembly.
      1. Remove the A/C condenser. For additional information, refer to Section 412-03 .
      1. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
      1. Remove the two bolts and position the multi-cooler assembly aside.
      1. Remove the bolts and the condenser support brackets.
      1. Remove the radiator.
