2000 Dodge Intrepid Troubles

I am having trouble turning over my 2000 dodge intrepid. when I turn the key it just clicks like it wants to start but doesnt engage the starter. We checked the starter, and it seems to be fine. We hooked up the machine to the car and it said the car's catalac converter was gone.... Would this cause it not to start?

replace the starter how did it seem fine? no the converter would not keep it from turning over

Try turning the engine making sure that the engine is not lock. Remove the starter and have it tested. Check your ignition switch.

I have a 99 dodge intrepid and it runs rough and stalls out. how do you find out the codes for what is wrong with it?

On my 98' Intrepid I turn the key to "ON position" Three times.( on-off-on-off-on-off-on). Don't start it. It will show the trouble codes in the odometer space. To reset the codes just undo the Neg. battery cable for 30 mins..

could be a lot of things from spark plugs to crank sensors. id check the spark plugs first but dodge has a big problem with crank sensors going out though. but it could b a number of things other than that

first of all, check your code to see what the car computer shows. To do that , insert the key in the ignition and switch it on three time within 2 seconds and the third time live the key in the on position. All the instrument panel lights will lite and the oddometer will display the fault code that may br the cause for your car not starting. goood luck.
