Change my starter and my engine light came on

i would say check all the fuses again, both in passenger compartment and under the hood. plus, the mechanic should be responsible for this issue. it also sounds like you battery is not fully charged. i would also suspect, the starter was changed without disconnecting the battery and something was shorted as he installed the starter. good luck

There are many different signs of a bad starter. First thing you want to note is if you have a "check engine" light on with the key on engine off or with the engine running. If you have a check engine light then go to advanced auto/ autozone etc and they will scan it for free. Also, while you are there, i THINK they will also check the starter for free... what seems to be the problem you are having? no start? start then die? takes long to start? please advise, Tim

check the wire's to the starter with a test light, have someone turn the key to the start position and see if the wire going to the starter is hot.
You must use a test light to check it...

Turn on the interior lights. Try to start the engine. If the starter solenoid clicks and , the interior lights doesn't change intensity, then you have to troubleshoot the starter. If the interior lights dims then something at starter or engine is jammed.
If you suspect anything wrong with the starter let me know, and a will tell you how to troubleshoot the starter.

What would draw you to the Mass air flow sensor? Is there a code for it? If there is no code then most likely one of the wires on the starter may not be completely tight. Occasionally this will cause the check engine light may come on.

check the starter relay and the main cable connected to the starter, also turn the head lights on and try cranking the engine over while watching the head lights, do they go out? if yes the wire on the starter is loose, if the engine does not crank and the lights stay on then it's the starter relay or the main starter wire, if the cable is tight then it may be the safety neutral switch which is on the side of the transmisson, let me know if you need more help.

it sounds like the problem but the question is why wont the pcm start the car. with the key turned to on the service engine light sould be on. if not the pcm has no power.

try to confirm if the starter functional or not. or manually turn the engine flywheel maybe the engine hard to turn.

when you disconnect the battery.when changing the starter.you lost computer memory.the computer is going through relearning its program.it effects idling.should clear up after driving around a day or two.if it keep stalling take it to the ford dealership to relearn to idle.

Starter drive not engaging fully . Sticky or worn, but don't think changing thermostat had anything to do with it. Try having starter drive inspected & lubed if possible , but you may end up with new starter.
