Cruise Control on 2001 Dodge Stratus SE stopped working. The green light comes on but it won't work. The fuse isn't labeled in either of the fuse boxes to see if that is the problem and I didn't get the manual with the car. Any suggestions???? How can you fix a broken cruise control? The cruise light will stay on but as soon as I press "set" it shuts it off.

Catherine, Check your cruise control fuse as a first step. Could be a bad brake switch, faulty vacuum line, faulty multi function switch,etc., may have to have a good Tech. diagnose and estimate repair.

Check your fuse for the cruise control. That sounds like where I'd start

first check to see if brake lights work, because brake light switch will deactivate cruis control when you press brake pedal to slow down stop.if brake light switch okay, dealership has to check out cruise control since pcm and vechicle speed sensor control the cruise control also.

Must not have been much of a mechanic. If the engine runs and sounds fine sometimes and other times it doesn't then it does not sound like a mechanical problem with the engine. Sounds more like a issue with either the ignition system or fuel system.

One thing to check is the micro switch on the brake pedal arm, I had the same problem.
For some reason the switch came loose and it wasn't being depressed.
All I had to do is re adjust it so it would depress the plunger on the switch when the brake was not applied and activate the switch when the brake pedal was depressed.
I set it to the sensitive side so when you barley tap the brake pedal it shuts off the cruise control.

Sounds as if the hazard flasher is going out. The only problem is that I don't know where it is located. Since yu said that sometimes it works, try it and see if you can find out where the clicking noise is coing from. It should be from somewhere near the steering column. Replace it.

blown fuse the air bag light needs to be reset by dissconecting the 12volt side of the batt. for 2-min then recconected

To replace the fuse without the diagram, just look closley at the fuses and look for the one that appears melt. The little wire filament will appear melted.

sounds like a bad set switch or brake switch
