I can not find the neutral safety switch on a 2000 buick park ave
Even the Buick Parts guy has not found it yet. It should be external, my book said 2001 and later are internal. My problem is I turn the key, dash lights and radio go out (normal), but starter wont run. No sercice light, no codes in ECM, tried 2 different batteries, all fuses OK, swapped relays in fuse box around, did this a week ago, turned key 3 times and then started. I can turn ignition on, lay under car, in park, and jump power from starter solenoid batt. post to small start post, engine starts and runs for 1 to 3 seconds, then like you shut key off, dies. Can do this several times, same result. Is gas in fuel rail on top 3.8L engine. Thanks Muck, Roger Jones I have the exact same problem. Installed new starter & selonoid & battery. Replaced relays checked all fuses, cleaned battery & starter wires. Same problem still exists

Any chance your vehicles have a security/alarm system. Disconnecting battery on some, will arm it sometimes & not allow it to run. Using key to unlock door, on driver & passenger side have been known to work on some vehicles, but if not, a call to dealer should help.
I wouldn't think it should make any difference. If you lock all doors & the use key to unlock them, usually one of the front doors, so I'd try both, plus I'd try any key that came with the car that works on unlocking doors. I've heard of some that have what they call the valet key, that only will work. Can't be sure on yours but you may want to google "disarming security system" and add your car to it & see what ideas come up.

Try keeping key turned to start while moving shifting lever back and between reverse and park. If it almost tries to start the problem is probably the neutral safety switch. Even If it does not it still maybe the switch.
Try an put the gear selector in neutral , could be a park neutral safety switch problem . If that doesn't do it ,maybe the starter relay .Do you know how to test electrical circuits with a voltmeter ? Voltage drop test the starter main battery cable . Starter Voltage Drop
Transmission range sensor , through electrical signals to the PCM ,it knows what gear the vehicle is in . Some all so call it a Park neutral switch , but it does more then that . The park neutral part of it won't allow the vehicle to start unless it is in park or neutral .

I talk about the neutral safety switch on the 1988 Buick LeSabre. I am asking you guys (my subscribers) to ...
i have a 97 par avanue. i had to remove the windshield wiper resovior to get access to it. Once it is removed, itis easy to access the neutral safety switch
Hi...sounds like your Neutral Safety Switch needs to be adjusted. Loosen screws enough to slide switch one way or the other until your backup lights go out when the vehicle is in park, then re-tighten screws. Check to make sure backup lights come on only in Reverse. Here is a link showing the location of your Neutral Safety Switch: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1992-Buick-Roadmaster/Neutral-Safety-Switch/_/N-iwj89Z9cid6 (copy and paste entire link into your browser if the link is not live)
Pass key is the security system which disables the car if it is stolen. You need the remote or a key with a chip to start the car. go to a dealer, prove ownership with registration and they will be able to help you out
Sounds like passlock security failure.Park neatral swith located at top af transmission where shifter cable connects to trans, should be on drivers side.
The battery is dead in my remote would that affect the security/alarm systme & keep my buick from starting
