How do I reset the computer after changing the oil myself ? The change oil light comes on for about 30 seconds before going out. The motor is a 4.9L. Thank you...

Depress and hold RANGE and FUEL USED buttons until OIL LIFE INDEX appears on DIC display. Depress and hold RANGE and RESET buttons for 5-60 seconds. When OIL CHANGE SOON light flashes 4 times remaining oil life index is reset to 100 percent. If OIL CHANGE SOON comes on and stays on for 5 seconds, display did not reset, and you will have to try again.

Release the button at the mileage you would like to observe.

At this point, hold down the button. In 5 to 10 seconds, the mileage will count down. When it passes 0, it will cycle back to a maximum figure. Release the button when the mileage gets to the service interval you'd like to observe. If "CHANGE OIL" or "OIL FILTER" already appears, just hold the button down to reset the mileage. "CHANGE OIL" and "OIL FILTER" are reset separately.

Service engine light stays on. changed engine air filter, oil is fine,antifreez is right, gas cap is tight, power steering fluid is correct, motor runs perfect with no miss at idle, disconnected ground...

Go to auto zone and find out what the codes are! write down the codes and look them up on internet. I am blind without them

1. Oil life indicator will display CHANGE OIL when oil change is needed, based upon engine oil temperatures and driving patterns. After changing oil, reset
oil life indicator.
2. To reset, turn ignition switch to ON position. Do not start engine. Fully press and release accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. If CHANGE OIL light
comes on and stays on for 5 seconds, it did not reset. Reset system again.

Oil light stays on

You need to put the key on and push the gas pedal to the floor three times within five second to reset the oil life light.Some g.m.'s have a reset buttom in the fuse panel that needs to be pushed first and some don't.Check the owners manual under change oil for your specific year car.

Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and hook it back up that should reset any lights on the dash because it resets the computer. If the oil light stays on, you might have low oil or maybe even a faulty oil sending unit that is tell the computer there is no oil when there is oil.

Why is the VSC light check engine light and TRAC OFF light on in my Toyota 2005 highlander? We have not pushed the TRAC OFF button. The lights stay on while driving. It has 36,000 miles on it.
