Hi Elaine, The link below is a short youtube video showing how to test and fix a car that shuts off randomly, It could be the fuel pump starting to go, Good luck.....CHEERS..
So you need a repair shop or dealer to do the
required testing to find & resolve ALL wiring
& electrical problems
You do not want a guess from an internet site
Doesn't work that way
Need wiring diagrams, lots of your time to explain the
issues & some detailed & possibly lengthy & for you, costly
labor time, to just find the main issue
The fan doesn't always run, only in certain situations when additional cooling is needed (high load, or in stopped traffic, or when you turn off the car). Is your engine overheating?
You need to stop using it immediately before you cause some damage or more than you may already have That is just common sense. It should not overheat or be any different than it was in the past without problem
The car has to be checked over/diagnosed,tested,etc for various issues to resolve
Borrow or Rent a car until resolved
No way to guess at the problem
You should have some type of codes avail even if the check light isn't on,you need professional help to get a start on resolving
The timing belt maybe worn & jumped or the head gasket bad.
Over heating isn't usually a cheap repair unless the thermostat sticks partially closed
The RPM moves around the car is 11 years old,so it may just need a though going over
Timing Belt,O2 Sensors,Exhaust Converter,Spark Plugs and such
If you depend on a repair shop to do things & don't have the knowledge to request work done throughout the year, then you run into a lack of proactive preventative maintenance situation. Most things are simple looking back, once resolved
There may be a restriction in the plumbing of the air conditioning system that is making the high side pressure too high, thus shutting off the a/c for safety reasons.
Or, the refrigerant pressure on the low side is too low, caused by not enough r134a refrigerant in the system.
Check out clarks-garage.com he has a complete troubleshooting guide for your cooling system along with a schematic. In short, check the low speed resistor on the firewall. Should be around one ohm.
You might check the cooling fans on the condenser to see if they are running when the ac is on.If they are not check for blown fuse,or bad cooling fan relay.Do you notice if the ac cools better when running constantly, and the ac is not so cool when in traffic, stopping and going, and running slow?If so the cooling fan,or fans are not working. If the fan fuse and the relays check out fine, then replace the fan,or fans.If I can help any more please [email protected]
