SOURCE: '95 subaru legacy -where is my trans mission fluid dipstick?

is located in the passanger side of the engine. almost right above the universal joint that powers the tires/ it's on the BELL HOUSING if you open the hood and look close you will see a 2 inch curved handle/ it's verry small to see but if you take your time you will see it. the dipstic itself its about 4 inches long . you have to use a funnel and pour the fluid inthe dipstick hole.

On the transmission dipstick When cold fluid is high, but when hot no reading.

When hot, some of the fluid is in the radiator, but when cold it has drained back into the trans. Always check it hot and fill to the "full" mark.

1996 Ford Ranger automatic transmission check the fluid over full removed month later over full again where is this fluid coming from and I'm not adding fluid to it and on long trips the over drive goes in...

How much "over full"?
(Realize that the fluid level will be slightly higher when the trans and fluid is hot, and lower after when the vehicle has not been running and cold).
If it is only 1/4" (~10mm) overfull, that could account for just normal fluid temperature expansion. Anything greater than that may indicate the following problem.

That said, if the fluid level is significantly higher than normal, there is only one place that can leak "fluid" into the transmission. That would be the rare case where there is a hole in the transmission cooling line which usually connects into the radiator for the engine coolant to cool the transmission fluid passing thru the trans cooling line.
If a hole/crack developed in the trans cooling line inside that location, antifreeze/coolant could leak into the trans line.

Is the trans fluid on the trans dipstick normal colored, or does it appear to be milky with water/coolant intrusion?

How to check transmission oil

park car on level surface, pop hood and by the firewall is a red trans fluid dipstick. lift up to unlock, pull out dipstick wipe fluid off, put dipstick all the way in and pull back out. look at level on stick. there is a full cold and full hot line. if you haven't been driving then look at full cold. if you have been then full hot. If you need some fluid top up through the dipstick tube

No fluid on trans stick how to fill it,do i need to put it in drive after every court?

You'll have to put it in through the dipstick tube with a small funnel. You should probably add at least two quarts of the approved fluid (ATF+4 I'm pretty sure). Then follow the instructions on the dipstick. It should be stamped on there.

1988 s10 transmission

if you drive it to much you will cause it to burn up, but to check the fluid level drive some to warm up( engine temp should be about half way (and you should reach 50mph) the park with it running(has to be running) and pull the tranny dipstick to check fluid level
if the trans and engine are cold it wont read the correct level

it will slip if the fluid is low

1996 Ford Taurus 3.0 v6

Check the fluid as recommended by Ford. Do u have the owners manual? It will give the procedure. I'm quite sure your Taurus trans fluid is checked at operating temp w/ engine running, in park. U can also check the dipstick, Ford usually has the procedure engraved on the dipstick. The reason for checking the fluid as Ford tells u to, is because their method will give an accurate reading. As u can see from checking the fluid in 2 different ways, u got totally different readings.
