2006 Criuser won't start and intrusion alarm can't be stopped

This is a weird one, at least to me. This afternoon my wife tried to start our 2006 Cruiser, but it would start and then immediately stop. I had the same thing happen three times when I tried to start it. Then the car would not turn over and there was no sound when I turned the key, the dash icons would light up and the inside dome lights stayed on full brightness when I turned the key to start the car, but there was no other noise. Then I noticed that now neither of our keys worked the door locks. We had to leave so I locked the doors using the power lock button on the inside of the driver’s door. I tried several more times to unlock the doors with both of our keys, but nothing happened.

When we got back after an hour or so I again tried to use our keys to open the doors, but the locks would not open. I then used our key to manually open the driver’s door and then the panic alarm started blowing the car horn. I tried to turn it off with the key fob, but that didn’t work and I also tried to start the car but once again the car would not start at all. I had to open the hood and disconnect the battery to stop the horn from blowing. I waited about 10-minutes and when I reconnected the battery the horn started blowing again and I had to again disconnect the battery.

Is it possible that the main sensor for our programmed keys has failed and now it does not recognize either of our keys as valid keys to start the car or disarm the alarm?

SOURCE: MY PT Cruiser Functional transmitter

According to Edmunds.com, Chrysler first released the PT Cruiser in 2001. PT Cruiser owners who need replacement factory keyless remotes for their vehicles can purchase them from a Chrysler dealer or online from keylessride.com. Remotes purchased directly from Chrysler will be programmed by the dealer but may be more expensive. Remotes purchased online will cost less but will require programming before use. The programming process for factory remotes can be done by the vehicle owner but requires the owner to have a working keyless remote.

Instructions:
1. Insert the key into the ignition and turn the key to the "run" position. The "run" position is the position located immediately before the "start" position that starts the vehicle.
2. Press and hold the "unlock" button on the working keyless remote for 4 to 10 seconds. While holding the "unlock" button, press and hold the "panic" button on the working remote for 1 second. Release both buttons simultaneously. If done correctly, a chime will sound for 3 seconds indicating the vehicle has entered remote programming mode. If the chime does not start, repeat the tasks in this step to enter programming mode.
3. Press any button on each keyless remote that needs programming within 30 seconds of entering programming mode. A chime will sound after each remote is successfully programmed.
4. Turn the key in the ignition to the "off" position and remove the key to exit remote programming mode. Test each remote by locking and unlocking the door locks on the vehicle.

Hope helps.

Vw passat 2006 slow to start this morning and this afternoon alarm went off when i locked the car and took 10 seconds to stop

Sounds like the battery or a short in the battery line. The VW alarm will come on if you disconnect the battery. Use a voltmeter (or mutlimeter) to check the battery voltage (red lead on positive pole; black on negative; range on 0-50V). When car is not running, you should see 12V; when car is running, you should see 15V (if the alternator is working). You can also test the battery charge by turning on the headlights. If they brighten when you rev the engine or if the dim when you turn on other electrical accesories, then it is likely the battery.

Toyota 4runner 2006 is locking automatically then beeping/head&tail lights flashing every 60 seconds. Won't stop. How do I fix this?

That happened to my wife when I bought her a car (with a factory installed alarm sys) that didn't come with the remote... Any local car alarm installer can reprogram another one for you (which is what we wound up having to do cost us $50) sometimes theres a lil tiny toggle switch under the dash somewhere on after market alarm systems

96 volvo 850 won't start and horn and turn signal chirp on and off

My wife ran into this problem one day when she came out of a store. Turns out the car alarm had been set off in her absence, and the alarm system had immobilized the car. The solution was to simply use the remote (rather than the key) to unlock the car. That cleared the immobilizer, and she started it up and drove off.

Panic alarm after using the jumper cable how to stop making noise

this is a protection feature to prevent disabling the alarm, if you have no means of stopping it with a keyfob, then disconnect the battery ground and reconnect it, that usually resets stuff to where you need it. check your manual first and make sure that I am not giving you wrong info on your battery as some are hooked up weird and have buttons and clips to get to do this stuff. (AKA BE CAREFUL!)
