You more than likely will have to remove the interior panel on the door which will be fun and take some time. Once you have it removed you should be able to manually operate the linkage and get it opened. I would be ready to locate a new panel just in case you break the original one, but they usually have some give to them if you take it slow. You might try removing the speaker also if you have one in the back door. It might give you enough room to use a stiff wire with a hook bent in it to operate the linkage.

Gmc safari 1996 minivan outside drivers door won't open from outside

You probably have a broken clip inside the door. There is a rod that connects the handle to the actual latch. The rod is held in place with a plastic clip on both ends. Also check to make sure our handle is still firmly mounted to the door.

Put a new handle on the rear doors of my gmc Safari hooked up the rod and now it won't open. The door handle moves it sounds like it is opening but nothing happens. I can move the rods from th inside of...

these rods need to be adjusted, they are threaded like a bolt so they stay in place on the plastic clip, remove rods from handle then pull or push them as the handle would, this sounds like the adjutment is off on the rods also make sure to lube top and bottom latches.

How to open rear doors on 2000 safari when handle is broken?

You will have to open the door from the inside. When you pull the handle up, there is a lever behind that pushes a rod downward to allow the door catch to release. Without this working the door will not open as if you were pulling on it without the handle lifted.

If you would like to attempt to repair it yourself, please email me first

The rear door on my 1995 gmc safari will not open yhe handle seems to be ok i think that the linkage came disconnected in any case how can i get the door open

You have to remove the door panel from the inside. Is this the handle on the left door or the right door and does it have full doors or half doors and a hatch glass.

REar door wasn't closed hard enough and so latch didn't catch properly and now the rear door won't open with the remote, can I open it somehow from the inside manually?, can't find a latch or anything. 95...

you would have to pull out the interior pannel and and unlock it with a screw driver the latch has a small hole that you could fit the screw driver in and it will release the door latch I have open various doors with a broken handle and it seems that you could do the same good luck.

My driver door handle broke

Go to the junkyard and get a new door and put it on. I wouldn't go through the trouble of taking the door apart to put on a new handle when you can probably get a whole new door for around the same price :)

other than drilling out the two studs on the handle ,the only way is to remove the inner door panel and open it from inside the door. You can see the actuator once the panel is removed

2004 Gmc safari rear electric lock doors will not unlock and the doors will not open.

This may be a Body Control Module (AKA, BCM) issue, this module controls these functions, wsaw this same issue on a Buick, it was the BCM, you will have to have an active system tester with live data stream cycle the locks to see what the problem is, as far as I know the dealer is the only place that has this type of dedicated test gear.
