1995 neon highline speedometer and gas gauge off and on, then stopped working. Now dash lights out also.
What is the fix for this ? my neon does this all the time....gauges drop off and i hit the dash then back on they come....what's the fix ? please email me at [email protected]
I have a 1995 neon highline that it did it till one day the gauges all quit working come to find out it common ....desighn flaw in the dash printed board....the only fix is replasing the dash with a new one or do as i have and run manual gauges....gas gauge is a pain so i just did a oil pressure /temp/ and amp gauge set 21.00 at harbor freight ....the gas i judge my milage fill it up run it for a couple hundred miles fill it up and divide you miliage by the gallons it took too fill it ...neons have an 11 gallon tank with gallon reserve.......im getting 39.5 mpg so i figure on 32 mpg and keep track with my gps as i use my garmin as a spedo...lol

My '98 does this all the time. There must be a harness loose because it happens when I hit rough bumps.
I have a fix if that's the case.

Bang top of dash & it comes back on sometimes?
I simply removed cluster and used a pair of needlenose pliers to slightly twist all the male spades in the back of it where the connector , connects, so as to make a better more reliable connection between them. Then I was concerned the connector was not reaching spades completely, so I fed connector harness through the hole that it clips to the back of, and let it sit on the edge on the front side of hole, rather than back side, thus allowing it to be pushed in to spades on cluster further, then re-installed the cluster. Between twisting the spades, and the fact that when connected that way, it will slide on spades a slight bit further, my problem was gone. All that plastic, seemed to expand and contract with different weather conditions, and that's when it would start to happen. Once i did that, no more problems.
