Will or will not crank?
if no crank wiggle the gear selector cranking
or try cranking in neutral. (fresh contacts there)

nothing to me means it will not crank.
if A/T wiggle the shifter,
the park lock out will allow you to shift to neutral, hand brake set.
then crank.
if it wont crank now, try, jumper cable cranks next.

Car won't start, seems to have power, all lights working. when I turn the key nothing happens. this only happens sometimes

Could be a bad alternator.. It may not be holding charge. Or your starter could have failed.

Though I've had the same problem and it was a dead battery in my vehicle. Had enough power, but to keep the car on..

You didnt list the type of car this is, the most common thing that causes this is the starter, i just had a saturn, the customer had the same problem we told her it may be the starter but cant be 100% sure until it actted up, she didnt want to replace it unless we were sure, so we kept and drove the car around for 5 days and finally the last day it didnt start and it was the starter , same problem turn key and nothing no noise and no start, i would have the starter replaced and go from there, its a mater of time before the car just wont start, hope this is helpful.

Check to see if the black resistor on the key is not dirty or wet before using it. Wipe it off well to make sure there isn't any oil on it.

If this doesn't work take it to the dealer and ask about it.

06 Trailblazer that will not start

Try putting the geashift in neutral when starting the truck. If it starts every time this way, your neutral safety switch or park interlock switch is broken. Let me know if this helps :)

This Too Is A Starter Problem, If >>The Battery Terminals Are Clean <<And >>The Starter Terminals Are Clean and TIGHT <<,I Would Wait Till It Wont Start Again and SMACK THE STARTER 2-3 times with a HAMMER then Try Starting it. If It Starts then it is The Starter. I KNOW this seems A Little UNCONVENTIONAL BUT For 30 Years This Technique Has Diagnosed HUNDREDS of STARTER Problems for me.

2001 Chev Astro Cargo Van

the problem is your ignition switch.

the connection with the start contact is sometimes missing.

if you want to save money, you can trace the starter wire and hook up a push button wire to start your starter. the other lead of the wire goes to the ignition switch to from the " on " lead so that if you turn off your key, there is no accidental starting of your engine.
