Hooking up speakers

2003 toyota sequoia limited with JBL premium audio. Took it to a stereo guy who said the factory parts are $200/door for the lower speaker set. This is already set up as a component system with a 6 1/2 woofer and a 2" mid-range in the door and a 1" tweeter in the upper door by the mirror. He suggested that we upgrade the system to sound much better with newer JBL speakers. They had trouble getting them in so I bought the system as they described and installed it myself ata fraction of the cost. Sounds terrible. Not happy. I think their recommendation was not a balanced system. I bought a JBL GTO608C 6-1/2" 2-Way Grand Touring Series Component Car Speakers System and put the 2" speaker for this system in the upper door as the tweeter as they described, and added JBL GTO328 3-1/2" Grand Touring Series 2-way Custom-Fit Loud Car Speakers as the mid range and added JBL GTO638 6-1/2" / 6-3/4" 360W Grand Touring 3 Way Car Audio Speakers for the back doors to just kick it up and be done with the failing stereo speakers. I tried to hook it up two different ways. I was wondering if I am suppose to USE the capacitor included for the hookup on the 3 1/2" set up as the mid for staters and am I suppose to then use the Capacitor connection box that came with this component system that has the in and woofer out and mid out for those two lower speakers since there was not one with the factory install. I figured that the JBL amp that came with the vehicle had the programming for the separate the freqs. There were three separate wires to connect to the 3 separate speakers. Also the rear speakers that i installed do not sound very good very bassy and somewhat distorted copaired to the factoy old paper speakers. maybe I just purchased low grade but I got what the stereo guy said he would put in to back it sound great. Any ideas? The bass is the worst prob. I have to turn the treble and mid wayyyy down to get the base to come up since we went with larger mid and tweeter speekers and it just sounds distorted. i also re-installed using the capacitor in one door and the one without sounded better to me but I did not play it with 2 capacitors installed. What may the additional capacitor do in the installation of the 3 1/2 speaker? It came with that speaker and was instructed to install on the + post. I did not try it without that capacitor. All connections were soddered. Please can you help?

FYI - I just took our 2004 Sequoia in because of speaker rattle coming from the front door speakers. Before I could tell them the problem, they guessed what it was. They see loads of Sequoias and Tundras with JBL systems due to the front door 8in speaker, basically, coming apart. His suggestion was to replace only the bottom 8in speaker, because the top tweeters usually are in good working condition. There is a minimal failure rate on the tweeters.

Rear speakers don't work after new head unit

There could be several reasons why the head unit for your car does not work. The most likely issue is that the head unit is not compatible with your stereo system. You can consult your vehicle owner's manual for speaker issues.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My sub woofer stopped working, please tell me where it is located so i can check the speaker and also check if power is going to it thank you very much joe

The JBL premium sound system has a large woofer in the bottom of each door, a small mid-range speaker next to the woofer, & tweeters next to the front door windows in the corner, & two full-range speakers near the rear seats. The woofer (not sub-woofer) handles all the low end. You can test the woofer by turning the BASS to max and TREBLE to minimum (make sure balance and fader are centered) and put your ear next to each woofer.
The woofer is usually the 1st speaker to have problems after 10 years or so. The outer edge of the woofer starts to degrade. You will usually hear a rattling sound out of the woofer when this happens.
NOTE: If no sound at all out of the woofer (tweeters are OK), you might take your car into a car stereo shop. They can put a speaker on the wires connected to the speaker and make sure your problem is not the radio.
PROBLEM: You can still hear sound out of the woofers but it is distorted
SOLUTION 1: Go to a car audio shop and have them install new woofers. These may cost $30+ each but the dealer cost is over $200 for each woofer (crazy).
SOLUTION 2: More involved but very cost effective. If you or a friend is handy, you can go to www.speakerworks.com and order a new set of speaker outer rings (on the site they are called speaker SURROUND) that will replace the damaged outer rings on the woofers (replace on both woofers). They really work great and your speakers should last for many more years.
Hope this helps.

2003 rear door latch broken how do I get the panel open

if the door is shut, it is a real doozy but i have done it. you have to pry the inner panel off the door using hook tools and small, crowbar shaped tack pullers....kinda like a mini wonder bar. once the panel is off, you have to fish around inside the door and pull the cable on the latch by hand.

Trying to find out if the amp for my 2003 Toyota Sienna XLE with the JBL Sound is located inside the dash right under the stereo. If not, Best Buy will charge an additional $100 to connect a new stereo to...

Metra Part# 70-8113

This is the only part you will require to retain factory amplifier when you switch to an aftermarket radio.

Best Buy does not use Metra Products.

They use cheap American International.
