I recently installed a sony explod head unit and 2 new speakers in my 1998 chevy s10. I had just finished wiring my 2nd speaker when my radio started turning on and off. and eventually would not turn back on. So i tore my dash apart (again) and re-wired everything. The radio does still not work and now the illumination lights on my dash dont work at night (speedometer and gauges) however turn signal display and blinker display does work. on a second note the day after working on my truck it would not start. help?
You may have damaged the instrument cluster. The PCM has to receive a code from the instrument panel to start. Its part of the security system. Beyond checking fuses you are going to have to take it to a qualified mechanic with the proper diagnostic equipment. It sounds like you wired something incorrectly

All the wires will be in the steering column, be sure that you got the correct switch, you may have the wrong one.
